A method for temporary protection of blank surfaces of a component against corrosion includes a first step wherein a corrosion protection foil is applied to a blank surface to be protected and a second step wherein a self-sealing, semi-solid protection layer is applied in order to at least partly cover the corrosion protection foil. At a later time at least a part of the blank surface can be exposed by pulling off the corrosion protection foil inclusive of the protection layer disposed thereon. The self-sealing protection layer forms a closed film and the corrosion protection foil and/or the protection layer comprise hydrophobically acting components in order to prevent moisture from penetrating to the blank surface to be protected.

An elevator system includes a lift cage, which is provided with a belt having markings disposed along the length thereof. A device for detecting at least the position, optionally, also the speed and the acceleration of the elevator cage, which is used to scan the markings, comprises a detector which is secured to the elevator cage and is displaced therewith. The detector is, preferably, arranged in such a manner that it detects the markings in one section of the belt which extend from the underloop of the carrier rollers on the elevator cage directly to a fixed point of the belt.

A device for attaching a code strip to a supporting structure of an elevator is in the form of a fitting tool capable of being guided along the supporting structure to play out an extended length of code strip material. The fitting tool has a guide shoe and a strip station mounted to the guide shoe for attaching the code strip to the supporting structure as the fitting tool is slid along the supporting structure, such as a guide rail, by a mechanic.

Position transmitting equipment for ascertaining the position of a rail-guided elevator car includes a code carrier, which is arranged over the car travel path in fixed location on a guide rail with code marks of different permeability. A permanently precise reading of the coding is ensured by the fact that the code carrier is fixedly connected with a non-magnetic cover externally covering the code marks. The code carrier together with the outwardly facing non-magnetic cover are inserted into a receiving groove of the car guide rail, whereby a simple and reliable mounting is achieved and, in addition, temperature-dependent differences in expansion between the code carrier and the guide rail are avoided.

Equipment for determining a position of an elevator car movable along a guide flange of a guide rail in an elevator installation with a code carrier extending in a travel direction along a length of the guide rail in a groove includes a mount attached to the elevator car, a code reading sensor system attached to the mount, and a plurality of guide rollers rotatably attached to the mount and rolling on the guide flange to maintain the code reading sensor system at a predetermined spacing from the code carrier along two axes.
