Systems, methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are disclosed that allow for control information to be provided in an efficient manner during short burst transmission. For example, an apparatus may be configured to receive downlink control information (DCI) that indicates an allocated resource from a base station. The apparatus may also receive data from the base station. The apparatus may generate a cyclically shifted sequence that corresponds to a sequence that is cyclically shifted based on at least one of an ACK or NACK for the received data and a SR. The apparatus may then transmit the cyclically shifted sequence in the allocated resource within one symbol period of a slot of a subframe to the base station. Thus, by transmitting the SR and the ACK/NACK in one symbol, control information for short burst transmissions can be provided in a more temporally efficient manner without adding excessive complexity to the UE.

Uplink ACK/NACK and SR in short durations

Certain aspects relate to techniques for estimating and compensating for antenna array rotation of a wireless node. For example, the antenna array of the wireless node may rotate about one or more of an x-axis, a y-axis, and a z-axis, which may misalign the antenna array relative to another antenna array of another wireless node, causing degradation of communications between the two nodes. In some examples, the wireless node may obtain, from a first antenna array of the other wireless node via a second antenna array of the first wireless node, a first pilot signal and a second pilot signal via a first beam. In some examples, the first wireless node may perform a first alignment compensation based on a phase difference between the first pilot signal and the second pilot signal.

Estimating and compensating antenna array misalignment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitted may use a closed loop precoder for line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that uses information such as distance feedback or LOS MIMO channel state feedback. A closed loop precoder may be associated with less overhead than a precoder based on full channel knowledge, such as an SVD precoder. A receiver may estimate a channel based on channel state information reference signals transmitted by the transmitter and calculate a spectral efficiency for one or more precoders of a set of precoders associated with the channel for a LOS MIMO mode. The receiver may send feedback to the transmitter that indicates a selected precoder of the set of LOS MIMO precoders based on the calculated spectral efficiencies. The transmitter may precode messages using the reported closed loop precoder.

Method and apparatus for codebook design for closed loop operation

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive a configuration indication for a common uplink portion of a wireless communication structure. The apparatus may configure the common uplink portion based at least in part on the configuration indication. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for controlling multiplexing of a reference signal on an uplink shared channel (UL-SCH). In an implementation, a user equipment (UE) may time division multiplex (TDM) a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) with other signaling across symbol periods of one or more allocated resource blocks. The UE may map the DMRS to resource elements of one or more symbol periods within the allocated resource blocks. The UE may then map uplink control information (UCI) to one or more symbol periods different than the symbol periods of the DMRS mapping. In some cases, the DMRS, UCI, or both may be frequency interleaved with UL-SCH data for the allocated resource blocks. The UE may generate and transmit an uplink waveform for transmission within the allocated resources of the uplink shared channel.

Controlling multiplexing of a reference signal on an uplink shared channel

In certain scenarios, resource preemption may occur. A user equipment (UE) is configured to monitor for a preemption indication based on a specific downlink configuration. This configuration provides information about whether preemption is identified within a data space in terms of resource blocks. The UE receives data transmissions from a base station at different times and a preemption indication in a group common physical downlink control channel. Based on this preemption indication and the downlink configuration, the UE determines if a portion of the shared downlink resources occupied by the initial data is preempted from use. If the resources are not preempted, the UE proceeds to decode the initial data.

Ultra-reliable low-latency communication indication channelization designs

Techniques for performing peer discovery to enable peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are disclosed. In an aspect, a proximity detection signal used for peer discovery may be generated based on one or more physical channels and/or signals used in a wireless network. In one design, a user equipment (UE) may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on a SC-FDMA modulation technique. In another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on an OFDMA modulation technique. The UE may generate SC-FDMA symbols or OFDMA symbols in different manners for different physical channels. In yet another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal including a primary synchronization signal and a secondary synchronization signal. For all designs, the UE may transmit the proximity detection signal to indicate its presence and to enable other UEs to detect the UE.

Disclosed are techniques for communication. In an aspect, a first UE determines information (e.g., from an external device, or via the first UE's own energy sensing) associated with scheduled uplink transmissions on a set of symbols by a second UE. The first UE performs measurements on at least some of the scheduled uplink transmissions during a first subset of the set of symbols where no DL signals are received by the first UE. The first UE receives at least one DL signal during a second subset of the set of symbols, and mitigates interference associated with the at least one DL signal based on the measurements.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a resource allocation, from a resource set, for a response message using a resource allocation selection procedure. In some aspects, the user equipment may transmit the response message using the resource allocation and based at least in part on determining the resource allocation. In some aspects, the user equipment may determine, using an implicit resource mapping procedure and before a radio resource control connection establishment, a resource allocation for a redundancy scheme response message based at least in part on a remaining minimum system information (RMSI) value. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Uplink control channel resource allocation

Aspects are provided which allow a network entity to consider an identity property for received RS during analog combining or aggregation in order to achieve efficient channel sounding and estimation. The network entity may receive an RS in a time period via a plurality of antenna elements. The network entity may combine, in an analog domain, the RS received via each of the antenna elements based at least in part on weights associated with the antenna elements. At least one weight of the weights changes over the time period, and the weights are elements of a time domain orthogonal cover code or a DFT matrix. As a result of these weights, the network entity may estimate multiple combined or individual channels of antenna elements or groups from one or more RS in one or more symbols, potentially improving UE energy efficiency, efficient resource allocation, and coherency between the antenna elements.

Efficient channel sounding through analog aggregation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems), a base station may serve a large number of user equipments (UEs) on the uplink. To improve detectability for these uplink transmissions (e.g., if reference signals are not available for the transmissions), the UEs may implement parallel transmissions of preambles with uplink data. A UE may split the uplink data into one or more data layers, and may select one or more preamble layers to transmit superposed with the data layers. These preambles may be sequences known to both the UE and the base station to aid in detectability. The UE may assign different signature sequences to each of these layers based on cross-correlation values (e.g., assigning sequences with higher cross-correlation values to the data layers for improved detectability), and may scramble the layers into a single shared signal for transmission.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a payload for inclusion in an uplink transmission. The UE may organize the payload into a code block group (CBG) that includes one or more code blocks (CB). The UE may map each CB of the CBG to a corresponding uplink shared channel resource unit (e.g., a physical uplink shared channel resource unit) of an uplink transmission occasion of the first UE. The uplink transmission occasion may also be shared with one or more additional UEs such that the CBG of the first UE is multiplexed with additional CBGs from the additional UEs. The UE may transmit, to a base station, the uplink transmission including each uplink shared channel resource unit on which the CBG is organized.

Code block group based multiplexing

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a base station may dynamically and reliably indicate that pending transmissions are part of a full duplex operation via downlink control information (DCI) designs described herein. For example, a base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE) a DCI including no more than one downlink grant and no more than one uplink grant for a full duplex operation. In some examples, the base station may transmit a first-stage DCI including partial information, and second-stage DCIs including full uplink and downlink grants for a full duplex operation. In some examples, the base station may configure periodic or semi-periodic uplink and downlink resources that may overlap in time, and may dynamically indicate, to the UE, whether the overlapping uplink and downlink resources are scheduled for a full duplex operation.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a low cost (LC) user equipment (UE) to signal to a base station (BS) capabilities to receive physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) in wireless communications systems. In an exemplary method, a UE signals to a base station (BS) a plurality of parameters for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) reception by the UE and receives a PDCCH according to the plurality of parameters.

Low-complexity physical downlink control channels and related signaling

Certain aspects relate to techniques for z-axis rotation estimation for compensating signaling transmitted between two or more nodes over a wireless channel where an antenna array of at least one of the nodes is misaligned about the z-axis relative to another node. For example, a transmitting node may transmit pilot signals defined by phase shifts to provide a receiving node with a basis for estimating the angle of rotation by which the antenna arrays are misaligned. The transmitting node may then take remedial action to address the misalignment based on the estimation.
