A detection circuit for the on-board direct current/direct current (DC/DC) ground wire and an on-board device are provided. The circuit includes a digital signal process (DSP) controller, a detection circuit, a standby circuit for an on-board DC/DC converter, and a power-supply negative wire for the on-board DC/DC converter. The detection circuit includes a comparator, a first conductive branch, a second conductive branch, a third conductive branch. In this way, the detection circuit is connected between the DSP controller and the standby circuit for the on-board DC/DC converter, and the detection circuit is connected between the DSP controller and the power-supply negative wire for the on-board DC/DC converter.

A power regulator includes an input capacitor connected between a first voltage bus and an intermediate point, an output capacitor connected between a second voltage bus and the intermediate point, a plurality of switches and an inductor connected between the input capacitor and the output capacitor, wherein a source of one switch of the plurality of switches is connected to the intermediate point and a protection device connected between the intermediate point and a third voltage bus.

High efficiency power regulator and method

A power regulator comprises a first power switch configured to carry a pulsed current, an input capacitor between a positive terminal of an input voltage bus and a return point, an output capacitor between a positive terminal of an output voltage bus and the return point and a protection device coupled between the return point and a common return point of the input voltage bus and the output voltage bus, wherein the pulsed current is configured to flow through the protection device.

An embodiment high efficiency power regulator comprises a three-terminal converter and a protection device. The three-terminal converter comprises a first terminal coupled to a positive terminal of an input voltage bus, a second terminal coupled to a positive terminal of an output voltage bus and a third terminal coupled to the protection device. The protection device comprises an inrush current limiting element connected in series with a reverse polarity protection device.
