A method for enabling the cleaning of fibers in a fiber cleaning machine in which a cleaning stream moves tufts around a rotating cleaning cylinder, the tufts being cleaned and opened. The cleaning action can be adapted to fibers of varying origin and to an increasing degree of opening in the course of cleaning. The cleaning stream is, to a large extent, controlled and controllable by decoupling it from the dynamic behavior of the transport streams which transport material to and away from the cleaning process. Compensation for variations in the cleaning stream, and in the material supplied for cleaning, are achieved by control of the cleaning intensity, in order that the tufts emerging from the cleaning process are constant and optimally cleaned and opened. The invention concerns also suitable fiber cleaning apparatus for the realization of the described method. The apparatus includes a cleaning cylinder positioned in a casing and a plurality of cleaning elements extending from the cylinder. The length, shape and density of the elements can change along the length of the cleaning cylinder so that the cleaning intensity varies along the length of the cylinder. Adjustable grid bars can be positioned below the cleaning cylinder.

Adjustable cleaning of fibers in a spiralled air path and apparatus

A fiber opening and cleaning machine includes an opening roll provided with inclined beater elements. Such beater elements have a wave shaped design and are considerably less in diameter than the relatively larger diameter beater rods customarily used in such machines. The advantage of the wave shaped beater elements lies in the grasping and spiral conveying of the fiber flocks fed into the machine.

The discharge device has a collecting basin which is funnel shaped with a motor driven paddle wheel in the tapered part. The waste removal is controlled on the basis of weight indicating and/or filling level indicating sensors which are assigned to the collecting basin.

Device for the disposal of waste in a fiber cleaning machine

A machine for cleaning textile fibres including a casing, a horizontal opening roller rotatably mounded in the casing, the roller body having a roller body and beater rods protruding from the peripheral area of the roller body and bar grates arranged below the underside of the opening roller. Textile fibres in the form of flocks are conveyed in a delivery air stream through an inlet which is arranged at a first end of the opening roller. An outlet for egress of the delivery air stream is arranged at the other end of the opening roller. In one arrangement, the radial length of the beater rods decreases from the inlet to the outlet and the diameter of the roller body increases from the inlet to the outlet. This arrangement allows the opening of the fibre flocks to be improved and permits a more complete separation of impurities through the bar grates.

Cleaning machine for textile fibres with drum having reduced diameter

A machine for cleaning textile fibres including a casing, a horizontal opening roller rotatably mounted in the casing, the roller being fitted with beater elements and at least one group of grate bars arranged below the underside and approximately parallel to the opening roller. Textile fibres in the form of flocks are fed to the opening roller in a current of delivery air through an inlet located above and at one end of the opening roller. An outlet for removing the delivery air is arranged above and at the other end of the opening roller. A clearance between the grate bars and the opening roller is adjustable. Therewith, the machine can be optimally suited to the type of textile fibre material to be cleaned. The grate bars can also be further adjustable on a axis parallel to their own longitudinal axis, so that the setting angle of the grate bars, with reference to the current of delivery air, can also be adapted to the type of the textile fibre material.

Cleaning machine for textile fibres having improved grate bar arrangement

A machine for cleaning textile fibres includes a horizontal rotating roller with beater elements and bar grates on the underside of the roller. Delivery air transports the textile fibres in the form of flocks through an inlet which is arranged above the upper side and at one end of the roller. An outlet for the air transporting the fibres is located above the upper side and at the other end of the roller. Between the inlet and the outlet at least three, preferably five transfer chambers are located over the upper side of the roller, each of which lead the air stream passing around the roller axis further in the axial direction of the axis by about the width in the axial direction of the chamber. The transfer chambers are defined by four, preferably six deflectors inclined by an ascending angle with respect to the axis of the roller. The combination of the number of the transfer chambers, the specified ascending angle and the width of the chambers provides an arrangement which can prevent the collection of quantities of fibre and fibre lumps in the transfer chambers.

Cleaning machine for textile fibres with improved transfer chamber

A coarse cleaning machine for textile fibres including a casing, a horizontal roller rotatably mounted in the casing, the roller being fitted with beater elements and bar grates are arranged on the underside of the roller. Located above and at one end of the roller is an inlet which carries delivery air for conveying the textile fibres in the form of flocks and an outlet is located above and at the other end for the roller. Deflectors which are inclined with respect to the roller axis are arranged above the upper side of the roller between the inlet and the outlet. The deflectors define transfer chambers which deflect the delivery air further in the direction of the axis of the roller. At least part of the transfer chambers are covered by a wall which is permeable to air and dust and a low pressure chamber connected to a suction pipe is located above the wall. The machine can not only separate the coarser impurities through the bar gates but can also suck out the fine dust-like impurities through the wall which is permeable to air and dust, the impurities being sucked into the low pressure chamber and then into the suction pipe.

Cleaning machine for textile fibres with means for removing dust

A wind-up apparatus for forming laps comprises a first winding roller, a second winding roller, a lap bobbin tube and a plurality of, for instance four, calender rolls. The calender rolls serve for consolidating a fiber layer into a windable fiber web. Each calender roll of the predetermined number of calender rolls has a predetermined rest position and an operating position. A guide structure is provided for the calender rolls to enable the calender rolls to be movable within a given mobility range defined between the rest position and the operating position. The guide structure comprises force-producing elements for moving the calender rolls into the predetermined rest position thereof.

Winding apparatus for forming laps

A wind-up apparatus for forming laps comprises a first winding roller, a second winding roller, a lap bobbin tube and a plurality of, for instance four, calender rolls. Each calender roll is movably mounted at each of its opposite ends by means of a spring pair receiving the calender roll. Each spring pair is fixedly connected at one end to a bearing member of the related calender roll and at its other end by means of a carrier to side walls of the wind-up apparatus. A piston of a pneumatic cylinder moves the calender rolls from a rest position, in which there is a spacing D between the calender rolls and a spacing E between the last calender roll and the first winding roller, into a working position in which the calender rolls are pressed against one another in the absence of an intervening fiber layer. The position of the calender rolls in their rest position is maintained by the spring pairs.

A ribbon lap unit contains support shafts for receiving and supporting a lap, a web transport means in the form of a web drafting mechanism, a web diverter, a diverter plate arrangement and a web collecting element. A web unrolled from the lap is fed through the web drafting mechanism and around the web diverter onto the diverter plate arrangement and thereafter onto the web collecting element. By means of the web diverter it is possible to arrange the diverter plate arrangement beneath the drafting mechanism. This, in turn, enables constructing a very compact machine.

Apparatus for doubling a fiber web

A winding apparatus for forming laps has two winding rollers and on each side thereof a carrier arm for receiving a lap bobbin. Each carrier arm is pivotably connected on one end with a sliding guide and on the other end with a pivoting mechanism. A hinge joint and a pivot pin provide these pivotal connections. The pivot mechanism is pivotally supported in side walls of the apparatus by shafts. The pivotal movement is accomplished by a pressure air cyclinder. During pivoting of the pivoting mechanism about the shafts the carrier arms are shifted in a predetermined direction. In FIG. 1, the lowermost position of the therein depicted carrier arm is shown in which the lap bobbin rests on the winding rollers. Through rotation of the winding rollers the lap bobbin rotated and takes up a web delivered from calender rollers for the formation of a lap. The build-up of the lap causes lifting of the carrier arms in such predetermined direction. To produce a predetermined contact pressure between the lap and the winding rollers, a pressure controlled by a pressure reducing valve is built-up in the pressure air cylinder. To controllably reduce this air pressure in the pressure air cylinder the pressure reducing valve is controlled by a control rule. This control rule is connected with the sliding guide and simultaneously moves with and in the same direction as the carrier arms. Through the control of the air pressure by the control rule the advantage is obtained that the contact force between the lap and winding rollers is controllable such that the contact pressure can be held substantially constant during building-up of the lap.

Method and apparatus for forming a lap

The can changing apparatus operates so that the full can and empty can are arranged to move in guide paths which are at a right angle to each other. A simultaneous exchange of the cans takes place with one can being shifted at a constant speed while the other can moves with a speed characteristic which corresponds to a tangent function. The support members on which the arms for pushing the cans are mounted are connected, for example by a rigid curve rod, a resiliently bendable rod, or a linked arm such that one support member moves the other.
