The present invention provides a method for fabricating large grain semiconductor ribbons suitable for use in solar cells. A molten semiconductor material is discharged onto a rotating cylindrical surface which is rotating with linear velocity of not greater than 36 m/sec.

Method for producing large grained semiconductor ribbons

A bipolar electrode for electrolysis of water. A porous graphite plate is coated on one face with a layer of TiO.sub.2 doped with a mixture of RuO.sub.2 and IrO.sub.2. The uncoated surface of the porous graphite plate may be grooved.

Electrode for electrolysis of water

An improved electrode for the electrolysis of water comprising a porous sinter plate of titanium or a titanium alloy having on one surface a coating of a finely divided catalyst comprising a mixture of ruthenium oxide and iridium oxide. In a preferred embodiment, the electrode has on its outer margin a dense, non-porous zone having a smooth appearance.

An electrolysis cell for water electrolysis, consisting of a synthetic polymer foil as a solid substance electrolyte having attached on both sides thereof finely porous and coarsely porous substances serving as electrodes, and two bipolar plates serving to provide electricity, whereby the finely porous substance carries the anode catalyst on the oxygen side and the solid electrolyte carries the cathode catalyst on the hydrogen side.

Electrolysis cell for water dissolution

An electrode for water electrolysis which comprises a solid solution of graphite and polytetrafluorethylene impregnated with a catalyst mixture of platinum metal oxides, the solid solution being pressed and sintered on a reinforcing net of metal cloth, as well as a process for preparing the electrode. The electrodes are useful in large scale water electrolysis for the production of hydrogen.
