This device () for generating ultrasonic waves in a target region of a soft solid, includes at least two ultrasound sources (), light sources () distributed around a central axis (X) of the device (), for enlightening a zone of the soft solid via subsurface scattering, and a video camera (), for capturing images of the zone enlightened by the lighting means. The ultrasound source (), the light sources () and the video camera () are mounted on a body of the device () and oriented toward a common target zone which includes a focal point of the ultrasound sources (). The purpose of the invention is to develop an improved device for injecting pulsed steam into a human or animal vessel (e.g. veins), especially tributaries and perforating veins to treat them through thermofibrosis. The device of the invention includes a water pulse generator that produces micro pulses of pressurized sterile water; a hand piece that transforms pulses of water coming from the generator into pulses of steam; an endoluminal catheter with a tubular part for delivering the steam into the vessel; connection means between the hand piece and the endoluminal catheter; and a programmable central processing unit (cpu) to control the water pulse generator and the hand piece.

The inventive ultrasound treating device comprises a first processing transducer set () for transmitting a beam of high-intensity ultrasound waves to a treatable area (), wherein said beam comprises an aspheric wavefront and forms a focal spot () on the treatable area elongated and inclined with respect to the direction of the ultrasound wave propagation and the focal spot () length is less than the length of the transducer (). The inventive device is particularly suitable for treating an elongated area such as vein portions enveloping a pathological valve.
