A motor vehicle sun visor having a generally flat sun visor body usually of foamed plastic material, having an approximately rectangular peripheral contour. In one corner region of the sun visor body, a mounting housing is disposed in the body. The housing has a bore which extends approximately parallel to the upper longitudinal edge of the sun visor body. An end region of the sun visor support and mounting shaft is received in that bore. A plug-in opening to that bore intersects it at approximately a right angle. A plug disposed in the visor body is positioned to plug into the plug-in opening. Electrical wires supported on the sun visor shaft have external contact elements. Electric contacts on the plug are contactable with the contact elements on the sun visor shaft. The plug has electrically contactable elements away from the shaft. A microswitch on the visor includes contact pins which contact the contactable elements on the plug. The switch is fastened on a mirror cassette which is disposed on the sun visor body. The switch is operated by a cover over the mirror cassette which operates the switch to close the circuit to an illuminating device associated with the visor.

Electrical plug connection in a sun visor for motor vehicles

A sun-visor for motor vehicles is described which has a flat, elongated sun-visor body which can be flipped from a position of non-use above a vehicle windshield into a position of use in front of the vehicle windshield. The sun-visor body carries a plate at one end region of its lengthwise direction. The plate can be swung out around a hinge on the visor body when the sun-visor body is in its position of use in order to impart the sun-visor body the normal size which protects against glare and can be swung inward in order to shorten the length of the sun-visor body before it is swung into the position of non-use.

Sun-visor for motor vehicles

An L-shaped support shaft for a sun visor body including a first support arm received in a mounting bracket on the vehicle body and a second longer support arm that extends into a mounting housing of a sun visor body and is held there by detent spring. The support shaft may comprise a metal or steel tube. A flat on the longer second arm receives the detent spring of the mounting housing. The free end region of the first short arm has a smaller diameter than the rest of the support shaft. A sprayed on plastic body over the bend of the L-shaped support shaft and extending up both of the arms, toward but not over the free end region of the first arm and toward but not over the flat of the second arm. At the first arm, the plastic body defines a mounting shank terminating in a mushroom head toward the free end. Electrical connection contacts are disposed over the long arm. A conductor wire extends through the support shaft from the free end region of the first arm to the contact on the second arm.

Support shaft for a vehicle sun visor

A sun visor body for a vehicle is comprised of polypropylene particle foam, having a depression on one broad side into which a mirror which is held by a frame is inserted. The frame is an injection molding comprised of polypropylene. The free end region or edge of the insertable web of the frame is integrally fused to the bottom of the depression in the sun visor body due to initial heating of the free end region. The resulting deformation of the web also securely holds the edge of the mirror.

A vehicle sun visor having a body comprised of polypropylene particle foam with a recess in its broad side for receiving a mirror supported in a frame. A series of openings arrayed in the visor body around the periphery of the recess. The frame being an integral plastic injection molding with anchoring pins defined on it at locations corresponding to the openings in the visor body, and the pins being installed in the openings for holding the mirror and frame to the recess. Each of the anchoring pins having a ring like elevation around it which engages in the opening in the visor body.

A sun-visor for motor vehicles having a sun-visor body which consists essentially of recyclable plastic material. A metallic detent spring is held in the sun-visor body and clamps a support shaft which detachably engages into a bearing opening of the sun-visor body. A rail over the top edge of the visor body and a foil covering over the visor body are also of recyclable plastic material.

Recyclable material sun-visor for automotive vehicles

A sun visor for automotive vehicles with one or more mounting brackets which are formed within the body of the sun visor. The sun visor is a molded foam body rigidified by a reinforcing insert. The mounting brackets for the visor are preferably formed by plastic injection molding, and the visor body is formed by foaming over the insert and the brackets. The mounting brackets each have at least one insertion opening which accommodates a respective mounting shaft or pin for connecting the sun visor to the body of the vehicle. To prevent foaming material from entering into a bracket insertion opening during the production of the sun visor, the mounting brackets are formed with an integral extension surrounding the area of the insertion opening. The integral extension protrudes out of the region of the sun visor body being foamed. After the foaming step in the manufacturing of the sun visor is completed, the integral extension is removed from the mounting bracket. Then the mounting shaft is inserted into the insertion opening. The integral extension can also serve as an anchor for clamping the bracket in place during the foaming of the sun visor body.
