The invention concerns a magnet system (1) for charging of a superconducting magnet coil (3). The magnet system (1) is characterized by control means (4) for reading-in and controlling which read-in data of a storage medium (7) associated with the superconducting magnet (3) into a power supply (2) and which control the charging of the superconducting magnet coil (3) by the power supply (2) using the read-in data. The magnet system (1) facilitates a fully automatic, safe and rapid charging of a superconducting magnet coil (3) and guarantees better reproduceability and an optimal charging process.

Magnet system

A device for the safe discharge of a superconducting magnet coil (4) which is located inside a cryostat (2) and superconductively short-circuited by a superconducting switch (7) providing at or in the cryostat (2) a transmitter (10) of electromagnetic energy being located at a temperature level considerably above the cryogenic temperature of the superconducting magnet coil (4), which transmitter can be switched on quickly from outside, and by arranging in the region of the superconducting switch (7) at the cryogenic temperature level of the superconducting magnet coil (4) a receiver (20) for the emitted electromagnetic energy, which transmits the received energy directly or indirectly to a heating device (15) of the superconducting switch (7) or which activates an auxiliary energy source (41) in the region of the superconducting switch (7) , which on its turn effects a heating of the superconducting switch (7), so that it becomes normal-conducting and causes a discharge process of the superconducting magnet coil (4) via resistors (18) and/or diodes (19), being located at the cryogenic temperature level, there being no electrically conducting connection between transmitter (10; 10') and receiver (20). In this way, the magnet can be discharged without contact.

Apparatus and method for the rapid discharge of a superconducting magnet

A NMR measurement apparatus comprising a cryostat (10) in which a superconducting magnet coil system (9) is disposed in a first tank (8) having cryogenic liquid and surrounded by additional cooling devices such as radiation shields (5, 6), superinsulating foil (7) and, if appropriate, a second tank (3) having cryogenic liquid, is characterized by a pulse tube cooler (11) cryotechnically connected to at least one of the additional cooling devices in a good heat conducting fashion with this cooling device being mechanically attached in the cryostat (10) in such a fashion that vibrational and cryotechnical decoupling is achieved between the cooling device and the first tank (8) having the cryogenic liquid and, in particular, between the cooling device and the superconducting magnet coil system (9). The cooling losses of the cryostat are minimized in the NMR measurement apparatus in accordance with the invention so that a nearly uninterrupted operation of the apparatus is facilitated with, however, no field distortions being produced by the cryogenic measures, which would be extremely undesirable, in particular, with a high resolution NMR spectrometer and which would have to be compensated for through extremely difficult technical measures.

Apparatus and method for the rapid discharge of superconducting magnet

The invention concerns a vibration-damping mount (1) for vibration-sensitive equipment and apparatus. The vibration-damping mount (1) has a damping device (10), a supporting structure (20) connected thereto, shock absorption elements (30), and height adapters (40). The vibration-damping mount (1) can be divided, and can be erected without changing the position of the unit being held.

The components of cryostats are interconnected by means of tension members which are frequently made from a fiber glass reinforced plastic material. Such members, which exhibit a rectangular cross-section and bores for receiving the mounting bolts have shown to be not fully reliable because they tend to break easily in the areas of the bores. Consequently, loop-like tension members have been frequently used; but their production is expensive and connected with considerable production tolerances. The invention proposes to use a tension member which is cut out from a plastic sheet material reinforced by a fiber glass weave, and which comprises an elongated portion (21) with parallel edges, followed on both ends by enlarged areas (22) with bores (25) for the mounting bolts. The transition between the central area (21) and the enlarged areas (22) is formed by a transition portion (23) with arc-shaped edges (24). The tension members can be fastened directly on the walls of the components to be interconnected, by means of screws. The resilience of the sheet material enables spaces directed vertically to the plane of the sheet material of the tension member to be bridged.

Cryostat

The invention provides a cryostat whose components are detachably connected to each other. Each of the tanks (1, 7) is equipped with only one radial pipe (15 or 16) arranged at the end of the tank (1, 7). Each of the inner components (3, 7) is provided, at its end neighboring the pipe (15), with a detachable cover (5, 9), and provided with a recess (31, 71) into which the pipe (15) can be introduced from the end of the component. The jacket (11) is divided in a plane neighboring the pipes (15, 16). The shorter section (45) comprises a recess for the pipes (15, 16) passing through the jacket, and a connection for a tower (19) enclosing the pipes. This makes it possible to do without any welded connections between those sections of the concentrically arranged components which pass through each other. These welded connections, which heretobefore were necessary, led to structures whose individual components could not be separated from each other without destructive manipulations and which further provided the disadvantage that the heat developed by the welding operations had detrimental effects on the application of a super-insulation.
