The invention relates to a hydraulic control, particularly for automobile brake systems having two separate independent brake circuits, in which a master cylinder comprises a first chamber in which pressure is controlled by the driving-in of a master piston under the action of a brake pedal, the first chamber forms a part of a first hydraulic closed system comprising a first brake circuit, the master cylinder also has a second pressure chamber forming part of a second closed system comprising a second brake circuit. The second chamber is adapted to be fed by a source of fluid pressure and the master cylinder is provided with a plunger the opposite faces of which are respectively subjected to the pressures of the two closed systems. The master piston is disposed in the first chamber coaxially with the plunger in such a manner as to permit mechanical intervention in the event of hydraulic failure in the first closed system. The feature of the invention resides in the mounting of the piston in a part accommodated in the body of the master cylinder.

Hydraulic control for automobile brakes

An inertial locking device for blocking the rotation of a shaft. The device comprises a pivoting ratchet which is brought into contact with a gear means to prevent further rotation of the shaft by virtue of the displacement of an inertial mass within the device. The device may be used in conjunction with a seat belt retractor so as to prevent further extraction of the belt in the event the retractor is subjected to a destabilizing force.

In a brake friction-lining support which comprises a stack of wholly metallic sheets which are contiguous to each other over their entire facing surfaces and are assembled together by localized assembly structure, at least some of the localized assembly structure is provided on the edges of the support.

Brake friction-lining support

A disc brake for installation on heavy automotive vehicles, comprises at least two rotating discs fixed to each other and spaced apart axially and rigidly fixed on the brake rotor, and a stirrup fixed on the brake stator. The stirrup comprises two external portions between which the discs are disposed, and at least one intermediate portion between the discs. The stirrup portions have pairs of opposed coaxial cylinders to apply friction linings against the discs between them. The cylinders of the intermediate stirrup portion open in opposite axial directions and are staggered circumferentially and are blind and have a depth close to the thickness of the intermediate portion. The portions of the stirrup member are detachably interconnected and extend over an angular sector of about 180.degree. at the top of the brake.

Actuator mounting assembly for a multi-disc brake

A friction lining of a braking member in which the lining is fixed to a noise-prevention support and is adapted to be applied against a friction track by the effect of force which is applied to the support over a contact area by a force applying member, this support comprising a laminated structure formed by a stack of a number of wholly metallic sheets contiguous with each other over their entire surface and assembled to each other by localized assembly structure such as welding, crimping or riveting. Braking noise due to the tendency of the sheets to separate from each other at the moment of application of the braking force is prevented by forming at least a part of the localized assembly structure over the actual contact area by which the force-applying member acts on the support which thus has an excellent noise-suppression performance due to its laminated structure while at the same time its thickness does not practically vary at all, whether the brake is in the applied or released condition since the assembly structure is located at the point of application of the braking force.

Laminated noise-preventing support for the friction lining of a brake

A constant velocity universal joint for coupling two shafts and for transmitting rotation between the shafts and enabling, independently, transmission of axial thrust between the shafts and/or slight angular displacements of the shafts relative to their axially aligned position. The constant velocity joint comprises two stub shafts adapted to be fixed to the shafts. One of the stub shafts having a cup-shaped end portion with an inwardly extending flange at its open end for mounting a socket member of a ball and socket joint whose toroidal ball member is mounted near the end of the other stub shaft. A first cylindrical sleeve is joined to the cup-shaped end portion of the flange and has an internally toothed gear at its free end meshing with radial clearance with an externally toothed gear at one end of a second cylindrical sleeve coaxial of the first cylindrical sleeve. An internally toothed gear at the other end of the second sleeve meshes with radial clearance with an externally toothed gear on the other stub shaft. The joint is of constant velocity operation.
