A method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine, the fuel tank system, whereby a gas transport device is operated and a shutoff valve is actuated by means of PWM, whereby the shutoff valve is opened and closed multiple times according to a PWM signal for implementing a defined opening state, a pressure oscillation of the purge gas, which results due to the corresponding opening and closing movements of the shutoff valve, being ascertained and evaluated with the aid of the pressure sensor according to a frequency diagnosis, and a distinction being made between an operability and a malfunction, based on the result of the evaluation.

Method for testing the function of a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a regeneration air system for an exhaust aftertreatment system of an internal combustion engine and to such an exhaust aftertreatment system. The regeneration air system comprises a regeneration air delivery element, a regeneration air duct, and a regeneration air valve. A sensor system is provided in the regeneration air duct with which a regeneration air mass flow {dot over (m)}can be determined exactly. The exhaust aftertreatment system comprises an exhaust system with an exhaust duct in which, in the direction of flow of an exhaust gas through the exhaust duct, a three-way catalytic converter is arranged underhood and a four-way catalytic converter is arranged downstream. A provision is made that an intake point for the regeneration air from the regeneration air system is formed on the exhaust duct downstream from the underhood three-way catalytic converter and upstream from the four-way catalytic converter.

To prevent particle emissions, the start of injection of an internal combustion engine is controlled as a function of a detected dynamics of an operating parameter of the internal combustion engine. The dynamics is detected by comparing the temporal change of the operating parameter to a threshold value. The control may be carried out such that, in particular, a value of the start of injection, determined with the aid of a regulation, is frozen for a specific holding period following the detection of the dynamics.
