The invention relates to a sliding closure () for a metallurgical vessel comprising a tapping hole () for draining metal melt or slag, said sliding closure being provided with a slider housing () that can be secured to the vessel () and a closure plate () that can move therein for opening and closing the tapping hole (). The sliding closure () also has only this moveable closure plate (), without a stationary closure plate, which is can be moved directly on a sliding surface (), extending around the tapping hole, preferably of a casing block () in the vessel () and can be pressed by pretensioning elements. In this way, this sliding closure () provides a constructionally simpler structure and user-friendly handling.

Sliding closure for a metallurgical vessel

The invention relates to a device for actuating a sliding closure () applied to a vessel () containing a molten metal, once the vessel () has been positioned on a ladle rotating tower. A piston/cylinder unit () that can be introduced into a holding element () of the sliding closure () comprises a drive shaft () that can be coupled to a slide rod of the sliding closure. Said piston/cylinder unit () can be introduced into the holding element () and withdrawn from the same by means of a controllable manipulator () arranged on the ladle rotating tower. In this way, the piston/cylinder unit can be applied to the sliding closure effortlessly and precisely in few steps.
