A first screen-off gesture can be acquired when a display screen is in a screen-off state, and a corresponding first target application can be determined according to the first screen-off gesture. When it is detected that a split-screen event is triggered, a second screen-off gesture can be acquired, and a corresponding second target application can be determined according to the second screen-off gesture. The display screen can be waked up, and the first target application and the second target application can be opened in a split-screen mode.
