A transmitter for transmitting data to a receiver of a wireless communication network, the transmitter includes at least one antenna, a codebook, an encoder, and a transceiver coupled to the encoder and to the at least one antenna. The codebook includes a plurality of codewords, each codeword being a vector including a plurality of symbols, each symbol to be transmitted over resources of the wireless communication network. The encoder is configured to receive an information message to be transmitted to a receiver of the wireless communication network, to select from the codebook the codeword associated with the received information message, and to divide the selected codeword into a plurality of sub-codewords. The transceiver is configured to transmit via the at least one antenna a first sub-codeword, and to transmit via the at least one antenna a second sub-codeword responsive to an indication that the encoded information message was not successfully decoded at the receiver on the basis of the received first sub-codeword.

Transmission of data by multiple users over shared resources

The present invention concerns a cellular communication network having a base station serving a radio cell and at least one user equipment located within the radio cell, wherein the base station is configured to receive a radio signal from the user equipment and to determine at least one signal property of the received radio signal, wherein the base station is further configured to assign a user equipment identifier to the user equipment based on the a least one determined signal property. The present invention further concerns a base station to be used in the above mentioned cellular network as well as corresponding methods.

Cellular communication network using a user equipment identifier

A transmitter for transmitting data to a receiver of a wireless communication network is disclosed. The wireless communication network includes a plurality of resource elements, and at least a subset of the plurality of resource elements is shared by a plurality of transmitters for transmitting data from the plurality of transmitters to the receiver. The transmitter includes at least one antenna, an encoder and a transceiver coupled to the encoder and to the antenna. The encoder receives a data element to be transmitted to a receiver of the wireless communication network, and maps the data element to a codeword obtained by selecting at least one vector from a unique set of vectors. The unique set of vectors is exclusively assigned to the transmitter, and each vector includes a plurality of symbols. Each symbol is to be transmitted over a resource element of the wireless communication network. The transceiver transmits via the antenna the codeword on the subset of resource elements, the codeword representing the data element and identifying the transmitter at the receiver.

Transmission of data by multiple users over shared resources based on structured superposition coding

The present disclosure provides a device, a base station device, and a method for obtaining an estimate of a downlink (DL) covariance matrix from an uplink (UL) covariance matrix. The device and method are particularly suitable for massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) scenarios, and are particularly applicable to Frequency-Division Duplexing (FDD) systems. The device includes a processor configured to compute an angular power spectrum (APS) of an antenna array, in particular in the continuous angular domain, based on the UL covariance matrix of a communication channel and an UL response of the antenna array. Further, the processor is configured to compute the DL covariance matrix of the communication channel based on the APS and a DL response of the antenna array. The base station device includes the device and the antenna array.

Channel covariance matrix conversion

A base station is configured to control a wireless communications network cell of a wireless communications network. The base station is configured to establish a connection to a first user equipment and to a second user equipment using a random access process. For establishing the connection to the first user equipment, the base station is configured to use a sequence of a first random access preamble, the sequence having a first length. For establishing the connection of the second user equipment, the base station is configured to use a sequence of a second random access preamble, the sequence having a second length.

Method for a contention-based random access procedure in a wireless communication network

A method for terminal-to-terminal communication in a cellular mobile radio network includes providing a radio signal interference map that is indicative of a location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance within a coverage area of a base station. The location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance is indicative of a radio signal interference disturbance of a terminal-to-terminal communication, and the radio signal interference map is based on a learning algorithm for a geographic radio signal interference map. Configuration information regarding a configuration setting of a radio transmission for a terminal-to-terminal communication between a first mobile radio communication terminal and a second mobile radio communication terminal is provided based on the location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance of the radio signal interference map. The configuration setting enables a statement regarding a configuration to be performed in respect of the radio transmission. The method also includes setting up a terminal-to-terminal communication between the first mobile radio communication terminal and the second mobile radio communication terminal, taking into account of the provided configuration information regarding the configuration setting.
