An implantable or wearable lens for ophthalmic use, having a front surface and a rear surface, wherein at least one surface of said front surface and rear surface has an aspherical refractive profile with circular or rotational symmetry, or with cylindrical or non-rotational symmetry, with respect to the optical axis, and having a geometric elevation z(r) defined by a series expansion of Forbes polynomials, wherein said refractive profile generates an enhancement of the wavefront W(r) emerging from the lens such as to extend the depth of field thereof progressively and continuously in a power range between −1.0 D and 4.0 D.

A lighting device includes a light source configured to emit a light beam through an afocal projection optics along a propagation path of the light beam from a negative lens to a positive lens. The lighting device includes a further negative lens interposed and mobile along the propagation path of the light beam from the negative lens to the positive lens. The lighting device also includes an optical element interposed in the propagation path of the light beam between the negative lens and the further negative lens. The optical element includes a cylindrical lens, a prism or an axicon.

Lighting device with afocal projection optics and corresponding method of operation

An installation such as, for example, a box or cabinet for horticultural applications includes a lighting space between a lighted plane and a lighting plane parallel to the lighted plane, with side walls that are at least partly light-reflective. The illuminated plane may be defined by the upper surface of a plant culture medium. A set of light radiation sources, e.g. LEDs, arranged centrally relative to the lighting plane projects light radiation towards the lighted plane in the direction of a radiation emission axis. The set of light radiation sources emits light radiation with a distribution of illuminance projected towards the lighted plane, wherein the lighted plane is non-uniform and gradually decreases as a function of the angle relative to the aforesaid radiation emission axis, wherein the reflection of the radiation on the side walls facilitates uniform illuminance at the lighted plane.

A lighting device may have a planar array of electrically-powered light radiation sources partitioned into a plurality of sets of light radiation sources. The light radiation sources of the same set may emit light radiation of the same color, and different sets of radiation sources may emit light radiation of different colors. Each one of the different sets of light radiation sources may include a respective fraction of the total number of light radiation sources in the array. The light radiation sources have respective planar coordinates relative to a common center of the array, and the different sets of light radiation sources have respective centers located at the common center. The array comprises at least two complementary sub-arrays, opposite to the common center. The different sets of radiation sources are present in the sub-arrays in respective partial fractions of the number of radiation sources included in the sub-array.

A lighting device, e.g. for wallwashing lighting applications, includes a linear array of light radiation emitters including a light radiation source, e.g. a LED source, a light guide member having a first end coupled with the radiation source and a second end to emit light radiation guided by the guide member along a guide axis, as well as an optical system to receive light radiation from the light guide member and project outgoing light radiation from the lighting device. The light guide members of the light radiation emitters in the array are arranged with their second ends aligned in a longitudinal direction of the array, and with their light guide axes lying in a common plane angled to a reference plane. The optical systems of the light radiation emitters in the array produce outgoing light radiation beams having higher angles to said reference plane than the corresponding input beams.

Systems and methods for designing and implanting a customized intra-ocular lens (IOL) is disclosed. In one embodiment, a system includes an eye analysis module that analyzes a patient's eye and generates biometric information relating to the eye. The system also includes eye modeling and optimization modules to generate an optimized IOL model based upon the biometric information and other inputted parameters representative of patient preferences. The system further includes a manufacturing module configured manufacture the customized IOL based on the optimized IOL model. In addition, the system can include an intra-operative real time analyzer configured to measure and display topography and aberrometry information related to a patient's eye for assisting in proper implantation of the IOL.
