A vehicle braking system includes a master cylinder. In a delivery line of the master cylinder there is a pressure transfer device, which generates a pressure in a hydraulic actuating line of a respective brake device following a fluid pressure communicated to a first inlet of the pressure transfer device from the delivery line and/or following a fluid pressure supplied to a second inlet of the pressure transfer device from an electrically-operated fluid pressure source. An electronic controller controls an enabling/disabling solenoid valve, and the electrically-operated fluid pressure source to create different operating modes of the system. The system does not include any vacuum-operated servo-assisting devices. The master cylinder is associated with a hydraulic device for adjusting the feeling on the brake pedal, in which a fluid pressure is generated that opposes the brake pedal actuation. The electronic controller controls the pressure in the device for adjustment of the feeling on the pedal.

A suspension device of a motor-vehicle wheel includes a support member of the motor-vehicle wheel connectable to the motor-vehicle structure by means of one or more suspension members, a brake disc connected in rotation with the motor-vehicle wheel, a brake caliper associated with the brake disc and a brake disc cover. The brake caliper is formed in a single piece with the support member of the motor-vehicle wheel by means of additive manufacturing technology.

An anti-loosening device for a fastening unit of a motor-vehicle wheel is configured to be coupled with a wheel hub. The anti-loosening device is configured to be arranged within the wheel hub along an axial direction, so that a main axis of the anti-loosening device coincides with the wheel axis. The anti-loosening device includes a gear arranged to cooperate with inner teeth of the wheel hub, an elastic element extending axially with respect to the gear, and a coupling element obtained on a sector of said gear, arranged to receive a corresponding fastening. During assembly of the wheel—hub assembly, the anti-loosening device is arranged to create a compressed configuration, wherein the gear is decoupled with respect to the inner teeth, and is arranged within a cavity portion obtained on the inner surface of the wheel hub, so as to allow rotation of the anti-loosening device around the main axis.

A steering suspension of a vehicle includes a suspension upright and a mechanical component consisting of a radially outer ring of a wheel hub unit or of a rolling bearing forming part of a wheel hub unit. The outer ring is provided integral in one piece with a flange and a steering arm, extending radially cantilevered from the outer ring and the flange, with which it is also integral in one piece. On the side opposite to the steering arm the flange is integral in one piece with a pair of axially drilled radial lugs, configured to support, in use, a brake caliper.

Component for a steering suspension of a vehicle

A tool for mounting a motor-vehicle wheel on a wheel hub includes a tubular body having a coupling portion arranged for coupling to the wheel hub, and a carrier portion for supporting the motor-vehicle wheel during a centering phase of the wheel on the hub. The tool has an inner tubular member and an outer tubular member rigidly connected to each other so as to be coaxial. At the coupling portion, the inner and outer tubular members are spaced apart so as to define a space arranged to receive an end portion of the wheel hub, in such a way that, in an operating condition, the end portion of the hub is interposed between the inner tubular member and the outer tubular member.

Hybrid or fully electric vehicle comprising: a conventional braking system based on friction bodies to brake the motor vehicle by interaction of the friction bodies in response to the operation of a brake pedal or any other equivalent control member, a reversible electric machine operatively coupled to the wheels of the vehicle and electronically controllable to operate selectively as an electric engine to generate a mechanical power to propel to the vehicle and as an electric generator to convert the kinetic energy of the motor vehicle into electrical energy, and an automotive electronic control system comprising a sensory system to measure automotive quantities, and an electronic control unit to control operation of the conventional braking system and of the electric machine in response to the operation of the brake pedal or any other operationally equivalent control member. The electronic control unit is further configured to control operation of: the electric machine to selectively perform one or more functions including regenerative braking, in which the electric machine is operated as an electric generator to recover the kinetic energy of the motor vehicle during braking and convert it into electrical energy, and the conventional braking system to clean the friction bodies of the conventional braking system based on the number of brakings performed by the conventional braking system and counted starting from the start-up of the motor vehicle.

Management of the cleaning of friction bodies of automotive braking systems

A wheel unit for an electric vehicle with a disengageable drive includes a wheel support, a wheel hub rotatably supported by the wheel support, and a wheel pin carried by a member driven by the electric motor and rotatably mounted within the wheel hub, by means of two rolling bearings. A coupling device connects in a releasable way the driven member to the wheel hub. The two rolling bearings that support in rotation the wheel pin have respective outer rings mounted by interference fit within a cylindrical wall of a central opening of the wheel hub, and respective inner rings rigidly connected together by means of a spacer sleeve having a predetermined length. The wheel-hub unit with the two rolling bearings and the spacer sleeve can be assembled before being mounted on the wheel pin.

A vehicle braking system includes a controller that receives signals from sensors associated with vehicle disc brakes, which allow detection of a parameter indicative of a degree of noise generated from each disc brake. When noise generation is detected, the controller activates a noise attenuation function of a first type if the vehicle is braking, and of a second type if the vehicle is not braking. The first type involves reducing actuating pressure of a fluid actuator associated with the disc brake for which noise generation is detected. The second type involves temporarily activating, while the vehicle is running and not braking, the fluid actuator associated with the disc brake which is generating noise. The controller also receives signals indicative of vehicle operating parameters which allow conditions to be defined in which priority is given to vehicle safety, and in which the noise attenuation function is excluded.

Method and system for reducing or eliminating noise generated by the disc brakes of a motor-vehicle

A vehicle braking system includes an assistance device having a vacuum pump driven by an engine for communicating vacuum to a chamber of the assistance device. A control valve is interposed along a fluid line between the pump and the chamber. The control valve is in its first operative condition, where the inlet side of the vacuum pump communicates with the chamber, when pressure within the chamber is above a predetermined value; and is in its second operative condition, where the inlet side of the vacuum pump communicates with the atmosphere, when pressure within the chamber is below a predetermined value. In this second condition the pump intakes air from and feeds air into the atmosphere, thereby reducing the energy consumption by the engine required for driving the pump during stages where, within the chamber, there is a vacuum sufficient for the regular operation of the braking system.

Motor-vehicle braking system having a vacuum-operated assistance device

A suspension device of a motor-vehicle wheel includes a support member of the wheel connected to a structure of the motor-vehicle by one or more suspension members and a brake disc connected in rotation with the motor-vehicle wheel. The device also includes a brake disc cover rigidly connected to the support member and at least partially surrounding the brake disc. The brake disc cover is formed in a single piece with said support member of the motor-vehicle wheel.

A brake disc for motor-vehicle disc brakes, includes a body with a hub and two opposite annular planar faces, wherein at least one of these faces is formed with one or more lines defining a surface irregularity, in the form of grooves or ribs, which extend between a radially inner edge and a radially outer edge of the respective face, so as to substantially cover the entire radial extension of the face. A height of the surface irregularity along said lines is less than 0.30 mm, so that during use, the lines defining the surface irregularity disappear, due to wear of the respective face, after an initial fraction of the life of the brake disc. During this initial stage, the lines defining the surface irregularity reduce the time necessary to obtain a bedding of the disc brake with respect to a case of a brake disc devoid of the lines.

An automotive active brake noise damping system to actively damp braking noise perceivable in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle comprising a braking system comprising a plurality of braking assemblies associated with wheels of the motor vehicle. The automotive active brake noise damping system comprises a sensory system to sense quantities that allow braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies during braking to be estimated, an audio system to diffuse sounds in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, and an electronic control unit connected to the sensory system and the audio system, and programmed to control the audio system based on the quantities sensed by the sensor system to actively damp the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. The sensory system comprises vibration sensors, conveniently in the form of piezoelectric accelerators, which are applied to the braking assemblies to sense the amplitude of the vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking, and the electronic control unit is programmed to store a mathematical model, which correlates vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking with corresponding braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and produced by the braking assemblies during braking, estimate the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies of the braking system during braking as a function of the vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking and sensed by the vibration sensors applied to the braking assemblies and of the stored mathematical model, compute an interfering sound to be diffused in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle to damp the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies during braking, and control the audio system to cause it to diffuse the computed interfering sound.

A ventilated brake disk for a motor vehicle has a rotor provided with two disks having respective inner faces, which are axially spaced apart and are joined to each other through a plurality of pins; the radially outermost end areas of the two faces axially define between them an annular passage, which houses the wavy intermediate portion of a wire damping element; this intermediate portion is elastically deformed in a direction parallel to the axis of the rotor so as to be forced against the disks; at its opposite ends, the wire damping element ends with two fastening portions which are radially inwardly bent with respect to the intermediate portion and are hooked to respective pins.

Ventilated brake disk for a motor vehicle

A supporting and braking assembly for a motor vehicle wheel has a supporting member, defined by a single piece adapted to be coupled to a suspension of the motor vehicle and provided with a central portion coupled to a rotating hub by means of a bearing. The supporting member is also provided with two arms which extend in cantilevered manner from the central portion in essentially radial directions and support respective studs, to which a floating caliper is slidingly coupled. The caliper is arranged straddling a brake disc, fixed and coaxial with respect to the hub, and supports two brake pads arranged on opposite sides of the brake disc. At least one of the studs is sized so as to transfer the tangential loads caused by braking from the caliper directly onto the corresponding arm.
