An apparatus for controlling a display having a backlight module provided with a first set of units and a display panel provided with a second set of units is provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a reference value generator, a control value generator, and a compensation circuit. The reference value generator generates a reference value representative of a portion of pixels contained in an input image associated with one of the second set of units. The control value generator generates a control value to control one of the first set of units in view of the reference value. The compensation circuit adjusts the portion of pixels contained in the input image in view of the control value. The one of the first units is associated with the one of the second units.

Apparatus for controlling a display and method thereof

A Hadamard transform-based image compression method includes performing a Hadamard transform on 2pixel values according to a product of a 2&#xd7;2stage Hadamard matrix and a 2&#xd7;2adjustment matrix to generate 2conversion values, where k is a positive integer and at least one of the 2conversion values is zero. The adjustment matrix satisfies a condition that: when the 2pixel values are divided into G pixel groups each comprising 2/G adjacent pixels values and the adjustment matrix is multiplied with a first 2&#xd7;1 matrix formed by the 2pixel values to transform the first 2&#xd7;1 matrix to a second 2&#xd7;1 matrix, each pixel value of the first matrix is transformed to an average of a pixel group comprising the pixel value to form the second 2&#xd7;1 matrix.

Hadamard transform-based image compression circuit and method thereof

A method and an apparatus are provided for determining whether a-low resolution image is converted to a high-resolution image, and enhancing image quality of a video signal. The image processing method includes steps of receiving a video stream; determining whether the video stream includes a converted image converted from a low-resolution image to a high-resolution image; and enhancing image quality of the video stream when the video stream includes the converted image.

A method for detecting left-eye/right-eye images is capable of effectively and accurately detecting a sequence or positions of left-eye/right-eye image frames of a stereo image signal. The method includes performing block matching on a target block corresponding to two consecutive image frames of an image signal to determine a motion vector; and performing left-eye/right-eye image determination on a current image frame from the two consecutive image frames according to the motion vector.
