At a reel, an outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical tube portion of a reel hub is a tape winding surface around which a magnetic tape is wound. In a free state, the tape winding surface forms a substantial taper shape in which an outer diameter is greater at an upper end portion side where a radial direction rigidity is relatively low, than at a lower end portion side where the rigidity is high. In a state in which a magnetic tape is wound, the tape winding surface can form a shape that is substantially symmetrical with respect to a transverse direction of the magnetic tape. As a result, the reel and a recording tape cartridge are obtained in which the outer peripheral surface of the hub forms a proper shape in a state in which a recording tape is wound.

A reel includes a hub formed in a cylindrical-tube-shape with a base portion, on an outer peripheral surface of which a recording tape is wound; a base side flange portion that projects-out to a radial direction outer side of a base portion side of the hub; a flange member configured in a disc-shape or an annular-plate-shape of a material with an elastic modulus at least equal to a material that constitutes the hub, the flange member being coaxially joined to an opening end portion of the hub; a metal plate formed in a circular-plate-shape or an annular-plate-shape, which is fixed coaxially to the base portion of the hub; and a groove wall that is formed integrally with the base portion of the hub and forms a groove portion which is continuous around the entire periphery between the groove wall and an outer peripheral surface of the metal plate.

A reinforcement ring is insert-molded as an insert body on a reel hub of a reel around which recording tape is wound. The reinforcement ring includes a metal ring at least whose inner peripheral surface is covered by a resin layer. The clearance between the reinforcement ring and a mold during reel molding can be reduced, and the amount of eccentricity of the insert body with respect to the reel hub can be reduced.

A recording tape cartridge houses a reel including a hub around which recording tape is wound and at least part of which is formed by a resin. The rigidity (modulus of elasticity) y in the radial direction of the hub and the creep deformation ratio x of the recording tape satisfy the conditions of y&#x2267;87.3 expand x&#x3e;0.1. By setting the rigidity of the reel hub to match the creep deformation ratio of the recording tape so as to satisfy this relationship, creep deformation of the recording tape can be controlled at the smallest cost.

The invention of the present application provides a reel, which can improve the dimensional accuracy of a hub, having a configuration in which a reinforcing tubular member is disposed on the hub by insert molding. A resin layer extends from one end portion side of the hub at which a first flange is integrally formed in a height direction of the hub. The resin layer is disposed on an inner peripheral surface of the tubular member in the reel. The reel is provided with a resin hub having an outer peripheral surface on which a recording tape T is wound, the first flange is integrally formed at one end portion of the hub, a second flange is welded at the other end portion of the hub, and a reinforcing tubular member is disposed on an inner peripheral surface of the hub by insert molding.

Provided is a reel capable of improving the rigidity of the hub and maintaining the tape characteristics. A single resin layerlying below an aluminum ringin an axial direction of the reel huband having a wall thickness tof 0.8-1.7 mm can suppress the partial rigidity reduction of the reel hub. This can suppress the partial characteristic deterioration of a recording tape T wound on the reel hub(partial broadening of the width of the recording tape T, etc.). Besides, crack occurrence can be reduced in the single resin layerof the reel hub

A resin ring is integrally formed on an outer peripheral face of a metal ring to form a hub. On a lower end portion side of the resin ring, a step portion exposing the metal ring is formed. A positioning portion with which the step portion of the hub can be fitted is formed at a central portion of a lower flange. Positions in a height direction of lower end faces of the resin ring and the metal ring are different from each other. Even if a minute gap exists between the metal ring and a metal mold for molding the hub and fluid resin flows into the gap to produce a burr, the burr does not reach the lower end face of the metal ring. Therefore, variations due to the burr do not occur in the lower end face of the hub for positioning in dimension of product.

A reel includes a hub around which recording tape is wound and flanges that are disposed on both end portions of the hub and hold width direction end portions of the recording tape. The hub includes a cylindrical reinforcement ring, a resin ring integrally molded on the outer peripheral surface of the reinforcement ring, and a consecutive portion made of resin that covers one end portion of the reinforcement ring and is continuous with the resin ring. Exposure portions where the one end portion of the reinforcement ring is exposed are formed in the consecutive portion.

A tape cassette storage case includes: a case body provided with a bottom plate having a rectangular shape and a side wall along a periphery of the bottom plate so that the tape cassette can be encased therein; a lid portion having a connecting portion connected to one side of the case body with a hinge so that the lid portion covers an opening side enclosed by the side wall; and a bumper portion provided at a periphery of the case body and the lid portion including an opposite side of the connecting portion so that the bumper portion projects to an outside from the side wall when the lid portion is a closed position, wherein the bumper portion has thick-walled portions at each corner of the bumper portion, the thick-walled portions being formed thicker than any other portions of the bumper portion.

A reel comprises a hub onto which recording tape is wound and a flange that is disposed on an end portion of the hub and retains a width-direction end portion of the recording tape, wherein plural cutout portions that locally divide the hub and the flange are formed in the flange. The cross section of the hub in plan view has a substantially equilateral triangular shape and positions where constricting force resulting from the tape reaches a maximum are caused to protrude in advance.

Retention portions that retain a leader member of recording tape are formed inside a case, and a spring member pushes the leader member toward the retention portions. The spring member contacts support point members, and the support point members serve as support points when the spring member deforms. The support point members, which are disposed such that they protrude from side walls of the case, include a height Dfrom an inner surface (attachment reference surface) of the side walls. The spring member is bent such that its height at positions contacting the support point members from the attachment reference surface includes a height Din a state where the spring member is not attached to the case. Here, D&#x2266;D. When the spring member is attached to the case, the spring member always contacts the support point members. Thus, the pushing force of the spring member is stable.
