In a method for setting an operational parameter in a medical device () an input device () is actuated to set an operational parameter () displayed on a display device () of the medical device (), wherein the input device () is advanceable in an actuation direction (D, D) by movement steps (α) to increase or decrease the operational parameter () by a change amount associated with a movement step (α). Herein, when advancing the input device (), said change amount is adapted from a fine-tuning-state value to a tuning-state value larger than the fine-tuning-state value in case a first condition is met. In this way a method for setting an operational parameter in a medical device is provided which allows for an easy and comfortable adjustment of an operational parameter for programming the medical device, for example in the context of an infusion operation.

An infusion device () for administering a medical fluid to a patient (P) comprises a pump mechanism () for administering a medical fluid to a patient (P) through a line set (), a sensor device () for measuring a measurement value indicative of a pressure in the line set (), and a processor device () configured to automatically set, in an initial phase, a threshold value () to a value determined based on at least a mechanical characteristic of the line set () and/or the pump mechanism () and to determine, in an operational phase, whether an occlusion condition in the line set () is present based on the measurement value and the threshold value (P) &#x2014;Herein, the processor device () is configured to adjust the threshold value (P) if in the operational phase a pressure variation condition in the line set () different than an occlusion condition is detected by the processor device (). In this way an infusion device is provided which may be able to reliably detect an occlusion condition even in case of multiple infusion devices acting on a line set in a multiline infusion.

Infusion device and method for administering a medical fluid to a patient

An infusion device includes a pump for pumping a medical fluid from a fluid container through a delivery line towards a patient at a flow rate, a sensor for measuring a force on the pump or the delivery line, and a processor device configured to derive, from the force measured by the sensor, a pressure value indicative of the pressure in the delivery line and to compare the pressure value to a threshold value for determining whether an occlusion in the delivery line is present. A storage device stores a compliance value associated with the pump and/or the delivery line, and the processor device is configured to compute, from the stored compliance value, the flow rate and the threshold value, an estimate of a duration between the time of an occurrence of an occlusion and the time at which the pressure value exceeds the threshold value.

A pump device () for administering a medical fluid to a patient comprises a holding device () for receiving a syringe barrel () of a syringe (), the holding device () comprising a stationary section () and a holding member () movable with respect to the stationary section () between an opened position and a closed position, wherein the holding member () is configured to secure, in the closed position, the syringe barrel () of a syringe () received on the holding device () with respect to the stationary section (). A shaft () is coupled to the holding member (), the shaft () being constituted to rotate during a movement of the holding member (). Herein, the control device () is constituted, when the sensing device () detects that the clutching device () is actuated to change from the unclutched state to the clutched state, to perform a control sequence during which the control device () controls the electric drive device () to rotate the driving rod () for a predetermined duration or for a predetermined angle of rotation while the brake device () is in the activated state.

Infusion device for administering a medical fluid to a patient and method for operating an infusion device

Infusion device constituted to detect an abnormal condition during bolus injection An infusion device () for administering a medical fluid to a patient () comprises a pumping mechanism () for pumping a medical fluid through an infusion line () towards a patient (), a sensor device () for measuring a measurement value indicative of a pressure in the infusion line (), and a control device () being constituted to control the pumping mechanism () for injecting a bolus of medical fluid into the infusion line (). Herein, the control device () is constituted to determine, dependent on an injection of a bolus into the infusion line (), a control parameter taking a change in pressure during injection of the bolus into account and to derive, from the control parameter, the presence of an abnormal condition during the injection of the bolus. In this way an infusion device is provided which in a reliable manner allows for the detection of an abnormal condition during the administration of a bolus.

An Infusion device () for administering a medical fluid to a patient (P), comprises: a receptacle () for receiving a syringe () having a tube () containing a medical fluid and a piston () movable with respect to the tube (); a pusher device () for acting onto the piston () for pumping the medical fluid from the tube () towards a patient (P) at a set flow rate; a sensor device () for measuring a force acting in between the pusher device () and the piston () of the syringe (); and a processor device () for deriving, from the force measured by the sensor device (), a pressure value indicative of the pressure in the delivery line (), wherein the processor device () is constituted to compare the pressure value to a threshold value (P) for determining whether an occlusion (O) in the delivery line () is present. Herein, the processor device () is constituted to determine the threshold value (P) from a first threshold value candidate computed based on a desired time between the time (t) of an occurrence of an occlusion (O) in the delivery line () and the time (t) at which the pressure value exceeds the threshold value (P), and a second threshold value candidate based on a force error estimate of a possible deviation between an expected frictional force and a true frictional force occurring when moving the piston () relative to the tube ().

The invention concerns a rack module for forming a support column, such as a rack, by stacking at least two rack modules, the rack module having at least one site for receiving a device for administering a medical product, this site comprising at least one plug for electric current supply to the administering device and for data transfer. It is also provided with an inlet connector and an outlet connector for connecting two successive modules to each other, power lines and data transfer lines connecting the inlet connector with the plug of the sites on the one hand side and with the outlet connector on the other hand side. In order to improve the connection between the rack modules in order to make its use easier, it is suggested according to the invention that the inlet connector or the outlet connector is movable between a stocking position and a connected position, the movable connector being called mobile connector and the other connector being called second connector, wherein, when a second module is placed over or under the module, the mobile connector in the connected position is in connection with the second connector of a second module placed over or under the module. This allows to stock in a safe position one of the connectors so that during the stocking and the handling of the module there is no risk for it to be damaged.

A method for detecting an occlusion in an infusion line () connected to an infusion device () comprises: measuring a force (F) applied to a piston () by a pusher device () of an infusion device () for moving the piston () along a movement direction (X) into a cylindrical tube () in order to deliver a medical fluid from the cylindrical tube () towards an infusion line () connected to the cylindrical tube (); calculating, from the measured force (F), a value indicative of a pressure (P) in the cylindrical tube (), wherein for calculating said value indicative of said pressure (P) a frictional force value (F) indicative of a friction of the piston () relative to the cylindrical tube () is taken into account; and comparing said value indicative of said pressure (P) to a threshold value to determine whether an occlusion is present in the infusion line (). Herein, the frictional force value (F) is determined using a mathematical model modelling the friction of the piston () relative to the cylindrical tube () in dependence on the position of the piston () relative to the cylindrical tube () along the movement direction (X) and in dependence on the velocity by which the piston () is moved relative to the cylindrical tube (). In this way a method for reliably detecting an occlusion in an infusion line during an infusion process is provided.

Method for detecting an occlusion in an infusion line

A locking system for locking a medical device at a holding structure, the medical device and the holding structure each provided with retaining structures which can cooperate with one another. The locking system includes a retaining lock for retaining the medical device when connected to the holding structure and being movable by a first manual control mechanism between a retaining position, in which the lock retains the medical device on the holding structure, and a free position, in which the lock does not retain the medical device on the holding structure. The locking system also includes a security lock which is movable by an automatic control device between active and inactive positions. The security lock, in the active position, prevents the medical device from being removed from the holding structure. In the inactive position, the security lock does not prevent the medical device from being removed from the holding structure.

A linear peristaltic pump with fingers includes a membrane positioned between the pumping fingers () and the tube. A part of the membrane against which the fingers () press, which part is called the track (), is kept in permanent contact with the end of the fingers () throughout the duration of the pumping cycle, even in the absence of any tube. This material will be more rigid than the rubber conventionally used but, by virtue of the permanent contact, the track will not remain pressed against the tube but will, by contrast, be lifted by the finger (). It will thus be possible to select a stronger material that will suffer less wear for the track. The precision of the pump will be guaranteed for longer and membrane changes that are painstaking and costly in terms of time and in terms of labor will be avoided.

A method for controlling the flow rate of a peristaltic pump includes compressing a flexible tube, forming at least one occlusion region that moves cyclically downstream from the upstream end of the pump, and compressing the tube in the direction of a counter surface to form an occlusion. A peristaltic pump can be used to carry out the method so as to suppress reverse flow without altering the speed of the motor. The occlusion in the most downstream part of the pump remain in the occluding position for a longer portion of the cycle than the occlusion in a more upstream part of the pump, preferably for longer than the compression in the most upstream part of the pump.

Method for controlling the capacity of a peristaltic pump and peristaltic pump

A device for controlling the opening and closing of a clamp intended to seal a flexible tube, for example in a positive displacement pump, includes: a housing that can be closed with a door; a tube placed inside the housing; a clamp also placed in the housing, which cooperates with the tube to open or seal it. The clamp is closed when the door is being opened and when the door is being closed. As well as ensuring that the tube is always closed when the door is being opened, the inventive safety device also ensures that the tube remains closed once the door has been closed as long as a suitable device does not trigger the opening of the clamp. The fully mechanical closure device is not exposed to the dangers of a faulty power supply.
