A method and apparatus to control operation of a brain-computer interface, comprising: capturing, at a sensor, a time series of brain activity in response to stimuli; passing data for the time series of brain activity to a history-based challenge generator; receiving, from the history-based challenge generator, a challenge comprising a generated stimulus with a predicted brain response derived from data for the time series of brain activity; issuing the challenge over the brain-computer interface; capturing, at the sensor, a brain response to the challenge; comparing, by an authenticator, the brain response to the challenge with the predicted brain response for the generated stimulus; and responsive to finding no match between the brain response to the challenge and the predicted brain response, preventing further activity over the brain-computer interface.

Battery cell monitoring systems comprising a flexible substrate and components integrated onto the flexible substrate, and methods of operating the same are disclosed. The components comprise a computing device and at least one sensor, where the at least one sensor is configured to generate sensor signals indicative of a physical state of the battery cell. The computing device is configured to hold characteristic data values which have been generated based on prior sensor signals. The computing device is configured to receive the sensor signals from the at least one sensor and to generate battery cell status data in dependence on the sensor signals and the characteristic data values.

Provided is a digital/analog signal processing apparatus and method for controlling exposure of personally identifiable information to be transferred from storage in a secure enclave, comprising a memory and an integrated circuit coupled to the memory, configured to: select a data set stored in the storage; individuate personally identifiable information in the data set; determine an individual person's subset of personally identifiable information; extract an identifier for the individual person from the subset; interrogate stored data using the identifier to locate metadata comprising permission to expose the individual person's subset; and responsive to a failure to locate the metadata comprising permission, either: emit a signal seeking the permission; or apply a protective measure to the individual person's subset of individuated personally identifiable information prior to transfer of the data set in a digital/analog signal outside the secure enclave.

A computer implemented technique for developing a behaviour tool to estimate a behaviour of a particular person in response to a given situation, comprises maintaining, in a storage device, digital memories and a record of associations between the digital memories, where a given digital memory is generated in response to a given event associated with the particular person and is determined from analysis of multiple items of data associated with the given event, including at least items of personal data derived from signals gathered from a plurality of sensors used to monitor the particular person. Processing circuitry is then employed to analyse the digital memories and the record of associations between the digital memories, in order to generate a digital twin of the particular person comprising one or more personalised cognitive models, each personalised cognitive model being arranged to emulate an associated cognitive skill of the particular person. At least one of the one or more personalised cognitive models forming the digital twin is then output for incorporation within the behaviour tool so as to cause the estimated behaviour of the particular person in response to the given situation to be influenced, at least in part, by model output data generated by the at least one of the one or more personalised cognitive models.

A battery cell monitoring system comprises a flexible substrate able to conform to a surface of a battery cell to be monitored, and a plurality of first-level prediction units integrated onto the flexible substrate, where each first-level prediction unit is positioned at a different location on the flexible substrate to each other first-level prediction unit. Each first-level prediction unit comprises at least one sensor to generate sensor signals indicative of a physical state of the battery cell, and first-level prediction circuitry to generate a predicted battery cell status value in dependence on the sensor signals received from the at least one sensor of that first-level prediction unit. Second-level prediction circuitry is arranged to determine a prediction result in dependence on the predicted battery cell status values generated by the first-level prediction circuitry of each first-level prediction unit, and a communications device is used to output the prediction result at least when the prediction result indicates an occurrence of a critical event.

The present disclosure relates to a computer-implemented method for controlling access to user data of a user. The method comprises: receiving, by a data controller, an access request requesting access to the user data; determining, by the data controller, a consent status and one or more item of information associated with the user data; encrypting, by the data controller, the user data in an encrypted data package encrypted based on the consent status and one or more item of information; and sending, by the data controller, the encrypted data package in response to the access request.

Wearable items and methods of monitoring wearable items are disclosed. The wearable item comprises a flexible base material forming at least a portion of the wearable item, plural conductive traces traversing the flexible base material, and conductivity sensing circuitry coupled to the plural conductive traces. The conductivity sensing circuitry is configured to distinguish conductivity from non-conductivity of the plural conductive traces, and configured to generate a conductivity indication for at least one of the plural conductive traces. The plural conductive traces follow indirect paths across the flexible base material, allowing the flexible material to flex and stretch normally without breaking the conductive traces.

Integrity monitoring for flexible material

A technique is provided for creating digital memories for a particular person. A data store stores personal data derived from signals gathered from a plurality of sensors that monitor the particular person. Memories creation processing circuitry, responsive to detection of a given event associated with the particular person, performs an augmentation process to generate an augmented given event identifying multiple items of data associated with the given event, including personal data associated with the given event obtained from the data store. The memories creation processing circuitry analyses the multiple items of data identified by the augmented given event in order to generate a given digital memory for the given event. A memories data store stores digital memories generated by the memories creation processing circuitry for the particular person, and memories analysis circuitry determines and maintains associations between the digital memories in the memories data store. Digital twin creation circuitry may then develop cognitive skills via analysis of the digital memories and their associations, for use in assisting the particular person.
