A drill cutting insert has a cutting edge at a transition between a side surface and a top side which is formed with n identical cutting corners and n identical partial cutting edges &#x2014;with n&#x3b5;{} &#x2014;extending between the cutting corners. Each of the n partial cutting edges has: adjoining a first cutting corner, a main lip which is straight in plan view of the top side; adjoining the other cutting corner, a secondary lip which is straight in plain view of the top side, and a transition section, via which the main lip and the secondary lip merge into one another and which has a convex section adjoining the main lip and a concave section adjoining the secondary lip. The main and secondary lips enclose on the outside an angle a &#x3b1;&#x3c;180&#xb0; in plan view of the top side.

Drill cutting insert

A cutting insert for a machining cutting tool. In a radial direction Q, which extends in a main plane H from the cutting corner to a center Z of the cutting insert, the following are formed in order: a falling cutting surface, a chip guiding stage base adjacent the cutting surface, a first chip guiding stage, which is adjacent to the chip guiding stage base and has a first surface rising from the chip guiding stage base and a first plateau adjacent thereto. A second chip guiding stage has a second surface rising from the first plateau and a second plateau adjacent thereto. A third chip guiding stage has a third surface rising from the second plateau and a third plateau adjacent thereto.

Cutting insert for a cutting tool

A polygonal indexable insert has cutting edges that run rectilinearly or in a curved manner in a plane perpendicular to a locating surface and that fall from cutting corners having acute angles to cutting corners with obtuse angles following one another alternately. The cutting edges have a rake face which first of all falls and then rises with a back region. The back region together with a center part of the indexable insert forms an intersection curve. The intersection curve lies at a distance a from the starting point of the associated cutting edge in the region of the cutting corners in each case at their intersection with the angle bisector. It is at a distance b from the end point of the associated cutting edge in the region of the cutting corners in each case at their intersection with the angle bisector. The distance b is greater than the distance a.

Indexable insert

A cutting insert includes a plurality of consecutively disposed, interlinked individual cutting inserts that can be brought into use successively through a respectively interposed predetermined breaking point by detaching a respectively preceding individual cutting insert in cutting use. The cutting insert has a blade-shaped construction with lower and upper bearing surfaces for being held in an elongated cutout with lower and upper opposing surfaces in a basic tool body of a grooving and cut-off tool or disk milling cutter. Each individual cutting insert is provided with a positioning device that cooperates with a complementary positioning device of the basic tool body. A grooving and cut-off tool or disk milling cutter and a wrench for the cutting insert, are also provided.

Cutting insert and tool and wrench for using the same

The invention relates to a cutting tool for rotating and drilling into solid blocks, comprising a drill shank () and a cutting head () on one end. The cutting head () has a straight, front-face cutting edge () extending approximately crosswise in relation to the drill axis (). The cutting head () also comprises a section () protruding from the shank of the drill () at a height (h) ranging from at least 5% to a maximum of 40% of the diameter (d) of the drill and at a width (b) ranging from at least 5% to a maximum of 40% of the diameter (d) of the drill. The section () comprises a straight, lateral cutting edge () which merges into a straight, rear-sided cutting edge () extending in an approximately parallel manner in relation to the front-faced cutting edge ().
