The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods for utilizing semantic information in association with a search query. For example, one or more embodiments described herein identify key terms within a search query and utilize semantic information associated with the identified key terms to provide suggested replacement terms. A user can select one or more suggested replacement terms to broaden or refine a search query so as to add more meaning and specificity to the search query. Furthermore, one or more embodiments provide unique and interactive user interfaces to allow users to efficiently refine and improve search queries when using mobile devices with smaller or more limited display and input capabilities.

Analyzing search queries to provide potential search query modifications via interactive user-interfaces

A graphical user interface displays a shape. Further, a buffer region that is adjacent to an edge of the shape is displayed at the graphical user interface. In addition, a set of drawing data located within the buffer region is received from a user input device. A first subset of the drawing data that is located in the buffer region at a predetermined distance from the edge and a second subset of the drawing data in the buffer region that is located at a distance from the edge that exceeds the predetermined distance are determined with a processor. Further, the first subset of drawing data is displayed. In addition, the second subset of drawing data is prevented from being displayed at the distance. The process also displays the second subset of drawing data at the predetermined distance.

Techniques to control shape interaction in a user interface are described. In one or more implementations, a method is described of controlling user interface shape interaction by a computing device. A shape is displayed in a user interface by the computing device, the shape described using a plurality of points, each of the points having an associated radius. An input is detected, by the computing device, involving modification of the associated radius of least one of the plurality of points. A determination is made, by the computing device, whether modification of the associated radius of the at least one point causes an intersection of the associated radius of one or more of the plurality of points neighboring the at least one point. Responsive to the determination that the modification causes the intersection, the associated radius of the one or more points are modified such that the intersection does not occur. The shape is displayed by the computing device as having the modified associated radius of the at least one point.

Control of shape interaction in a user interface

An input device, such as a multifunction straight edge or a keyboard, has a recognizable contact shape when placed on a touchscreen display surface of a computing device. The contact shape of the input device can be a defined pattern of contact points, and a location and orientation of the input device on the touchscreen display surface is determinable from the defined pattern of the contact points. The input device includes an interaction module that interfaces with a companion module of the computing device. The companion module can initiate a display of an object responsive to the input device being recognized on the touchscreen display surface. The interaction module can receive a user input to the input device, and communicate the user input to the companion module of the computing device to modify the display of the object on the touchscreen display surface.

Physical object detection and touchscreen interaction

A touch enabled graphical user interface displays a plurality of objects according to an ordering along an axis with respect to the touch enabled graphical user interface. The axis is perpendicular to the touch enabled graphical user interface. Further, a first touch input directed toward a first object in the plurality of objects and a second touch input directed toward a second object in the plurality of objects are concurrently received. In addition, a processor a processor the first object in proximity to the second object along the axis. The processor also provides a visual feedback during the repositioning.

Ordering of objects displayed by a computing device

In embodiments of physics-based cell layout redesign, a computing device displays a cell layout interface that includes cells in a cell grid, and the computing device implements a physics-based algorithm as a computer application that can receive a redesign input to manipulate a cell in the cell layout interface. The physics-based algorithm is implemented to then determine one or more of the cells that are proximate the manipulated cell based on edge relations between an edge of the manipulated cell and respective edges of the one or more cells. The physics-based algorithm can then reconfigure the one or more proximate cells based on the redesign input to the manipulated cell and the edge relations between the edges of the cells.

In various example embodiments, a system and method for context visual organization for multi-screen display are provided. In example embodiments, assets are retrieved from one or more external sources. The assets are organized into containers that are viewable across multiple display devices that function as a single display. Each of the containers includes a portion of the plurality of assets that correspond to a context of the container. The assets are displayed in their respective containers across the multiple display devices. An indication of a touch gesture applied to one of the multiple display devices to manipulate an object presented on the multiple display devices is received. An action based on the touch gesture is performed.

A graphical user interface displays a first portion of a data file. Further, a switch indicator is displayed. In addition, a first input that has a first proximity within a range of predetermined first proximities with respect to the switch indicator is received at a processor operably connected to the graphical user interface. In addition, a second portion of the data file based on the first input is displayed at the graphical user interface. Further, a second input that has a second proximity within a range of predetermined second proximities with respect to the switch indicator is received at the processor. The range of predetermined second proximities is distinct from the range of first predetermined proximities. In addition, the graphical user interface displays a subset of the second portion of the data file based on the second input.

User interface for a touch enabled device

An asset-based animation timeline is provided that displays information for a selected visual asset, such as information associated with one or more motion effects which are applied to the asset. Because the asset-based animation timeline is configured to provide information for only the selected visual asset, complexities associated with overlapping assets, sequential assets, and large numbers of assets are eliminated. The asset-based animation timelines disclosed herein can be configured to provide direct access to tools that allow a user to manipulate the motion effects that are applied to a given asset and to add additional motion effects to a selected asset. Animation timelines for other assets included in a given animation production can be accessed by selecting a different asset from an animation canvas. A user can interact with the various asset-based animation timelines disclosed herein using gestures, thus making such embodiments particularly well-suited for implementation using a touch-based interface.

In embodiments of image layers navigation, a canvas interface displays image segments of an image in different layers of the image. An image layers application is implemented to receive a position input of a canvas viewer control that encompasses one or more of the image segments of the image, and then determine the layers of the image that correspond to the image segments encompassed by the canvas viewer control. The position input of the canvas viewer control is effective to select the layers of the image that correspond to the one or more image segments encompassed by the canvas viewer control. Thumbnail images are then displayed that each represent one of the layers encompassed by the canvas viewer control, where each of the layers represented by a thumbnail image are displayed to include the image segments associated with a respective layer of the image.

A method includes establishing an interaction session between a plurality of devices associated with a plurality of users, respectively. Access to an asset by a first device in the interaction session is detected. Session metadata relating to the interaction session is associated with the asset. The asset may be an asset that was generated by another device during another interaction session or it may have been generated by the first device in the interaction session.

Methods and systems for using metadata to represent social context information

Touch input layout creation is described. In one or more implementations, a number of touch inputs is determined that were detected through proximity to a touchscreen device. A user interface is configured to have a number of cells based on the determined number of touch inputs, the cells configured to have a size along a first axis based at least in part on an available area along the first axis within the user interface to display the cells and a size along a second axis based at least in part on a location of one of more of the touch inputs.

Multitouch capabilities can be used to allow a user to set adjust one or more application control parameters at the same time as editing commands are provided via touch input. The control parameters may relate to how/what edit commands are provided, such as allowing for varying brush characteristics, colors, gradients, and the like used in editing graphics or other document content. Additionally or alternatively, the control parameters may relate to a design canvas or other depiction of the document, such as allowing rotation, position, or magnification of the canvas while the document is edited.
