The invention relates to a density monitor () for monitoring a gas density in a gas chamber (). The density monitor () comprises a measuring apparatus () having a first measuring device () and a second measuring device (), the two measuring devices () being coupled together. The first measuring device () is designed to measure a first pressure range () in relative terms with respect to an atmosphere, and the second measuring device () is configured to measure a second pressure range () in absolute terms. The density monitor () further comprises an indicator device (), which is designed to indicate the two pressure ranges (). The density monitor () also comprises a movable drive element (), which is designed to drive the indicator device (), wherein at least one of the two measuring devices () is designed to move the drive element () in order to drive the indicator device (), wherein the indicator device () comprises an indicator element () which is designed to indicate the two pressure ranges ().

To improve the reliability of gas space monitoring of a gas space () of an electrical system () filled with a harmful gas, the invention provides a multi-path valve device () for connecting a density monitor () to a system to be monitored for gas density, comprising a first gas connection () for connecting the valve device () to the system, a second gas connection () for connection to the density monitor (), a third gas connection () for connection of a testing device () for testing the function of the density monitor (), and switching device for selectively connecting the second gas connection () to the first gas connection () or the third gas connection ().

Density monitor

A density monitor is used for monitoring a gas density in a measured volume with a separating wall which separates a first reference chamber formed in a density monitor housing from the measured volume. The density monitor further includes a separating wall movement detection device for detecting movement of the separating wall. In order to reduce false alarms, a second reference chamber is formed outside of the density monitor housing. The second reference chamber is fluidically connected to the first reference chamber by a fluid line.
