The jets blowing frequency is of several hundreds of Hz. A deflector (3) in the bottom of channel (1) can deviate the beating thread sidewise and consequently impart thereto alternate twisting and untwisting motion in order to unravel the thread.

A knitting machine has a bed, knitting implements which are mounted displaceably in the bed and which each have at least an operating and a pivotably first control butt, and at least one patterning arrangement which has a cam portion intended for guiding the butts, with at least one respective non-knitting, tuck and knitting track formed by cam member, and a selector intended for pivoting the control butts, by means of which the butts are distributed to a respective one of said tracks. The selector has a first control unit for controlling selected knitting implements into the non-knitting track and a second control unit for selectively distributing the other knitting implements to the tuck or knitting track.

In a knitting machine, a selection latch having two end positions for selecting a knitting-needle is actuated so as to engage a cam which moves the selected latch towards a second end position. The actuation of the selection latch in two stages reduces the displacement brought about by the actuating means and increases the selection frequency. According to the invention the latch is actuated by a thin needle similar to a needle-printer needle, producing an impact on the latch, resulting in transmission of motion with high efficiency and moving the latch into an intermediate position in which the cam brings the latch into its second end position. This substantially eliminates friction between the actuating means and the latch, and enhances the selection frequency.

In a knitting machine, a needle position control device comprises knitting needles each having five butts, of which one is fixed and the four others are secured in pairs to two needle latches mounted for oscillation in two recesses formed in the stem of the needle. A selection mechanism acts on the latches so as to move one or the other of their two respective butts out of the guide trick of the needle. By means of this combination of butts, the motion of the needle in the three knitting positions is constantly controlled in both directions of motion of the needle, by moving out two of the three butts. A yarn-selecting device of a knitting frame comprises a mechanism for joig the yarn being knitted to a selected yarn to be knitted, which mechanism comprises a swivelling finger for forming a closed loop of the yarn to be knitted. Two levers form an open loop of the yarn being knitted and insert it through the closed loop of the yarn to be knitted on the finger. A hooking lever is provided for pulling the yarn to be knitted through the open loop of the yarn being knitted, after which the open loop-forming lever is retracted thus removing the closed loop from the finger, and the yarn being knitted is cut by a knife while the end of the yarn to be knitted is released from a gripper.

Method of and apparatus for joining a selected yarn to a yarn being

The yarns to be selected are mounted on a selecting rocker pivoting about an axis and are held by a clipper. The yarn is selected by this rocker and is raised by a lever. A finger performs two turns and forms a closed loop of this yarn. An arc-shaped rod which is integral with an arm mounted so as to oscillate about a shaft brings the yarn being knitted into the open end of the finger. A hook takes the closed loop of yarn while oscillating about a vertical shaft and returning to its initial position. It releases this loop and grips the yarn being knitted which is then cut by the clipper actuated by a finger which is integral with the arm and engages with a cam integral with the axis of the clipper. At the same time, the selected yarn is freed by this clipper.

A machine for producing pile fabric comprises a sonotrode (1) , a matrix (4) of tubes (5) bringing threads (10) onto a support sheet (7) for the purpose of welding rows of loops to the surface of this sheet. The matrix (4) is guided between slides (6) which are parallel to the longitudinal axes of the tubes (5) and perpendicularly to the surface of application of the sonotrode (1) vibrations. A driving mechanism (13, 14, 15) periodically brings the extremities of the tubes (5) from which the threads leave against the sonotrode (1) by pressing the base of a row of loops and the support sheet (7) against the sonotrode in order to cause them to be welded together.
