A thermoplastic composition includes: 40 to 75 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane-arylate); 5 to 45 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) present in an amount effective to provide 0.75 to 7 wt % of siloxane units; 10 to 40 wt % of a polycarbonate homopolymer; 5 to 15 wt % of an organophosphorus compound in an amount effective to provide 0.1 to 1 wt % of phosphorus; and optionally, 0.1 to 10 wt % of an additive composition. The thermoplastic composition has a melt volume flow rate of greater than 6 cm/10 min. An article molded from the thermoplastic composition has a 2-minute integrated heat release rate of less than or equal to 65 kW-min/mand a peak heat release rate of less than 65 kW/mand a notched Izod impact resistance of greater than 30 kJ/mor greater than 700 J/m.

Thermoplastic compositions, methods of their manufacture, and articles thereof

A thermoplastic composition comprising, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 5 to 30 wt. % of a poly(arylene ether-sulfone); and 50 to 95 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-siloxane) and optionally a polycarbonate homopolymer; wherein a sample of the composition has a notched Izod impact value of greater than or equal to 30 kJ/m; a tensile yield strength retention of 80% and higher after exposure of an ISO tensile bar for 24 hours to sunscreen under 0.5% strain compared to a non-exposed reference; and an elongation at break retention of 80% and higher after exposure of an ISO tensile bar for 24 hours to sunscreen under 0.5% strain compared to a non-exposed reference.

Thermoplastic composition with balanced chemical resistance and impact properties

A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a polycarbonate homopolymer, a poly(carbonate-siloxane), or a combination thereof; 0.5 to 20 wt. % of a compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester), a phthalimidine copolycarbonate, or a combination thereof; up to 5 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 20 wt. % of TiO, wherein a sample of the composition has a 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component.

A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane); 0.5 to 20 wt. % of compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester); up to 15 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 30 wt. % of TiO2; wherein a sample of the composition has a notched Izod impact energy of at least 200 J/m at 23&#xb0; C. measured in accordance to ASTM D256; and an at least 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component measured in accordance to ASTM D256.

A aircraft component comprises a polycarbonate composition comprising: a first polycarbonate selected from a polycarbonate homopolymer, a poly(aliphatic ester-carbonate), or a combination thereof; a second polymer different from the first polycarbonate, the second polymer comprising a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer, a polydialkylsiloxane, a silicone graft copolymer, or a combination thereof, wherein siloxane units in the second polymer are present in the polycarbonate composition in an amount of 0.3 to 3 wt. %, based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition; and 10 to 50 wt. % of glass fiber, based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition.

Polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer compositions for mobile phone housing applications

A polycarbonate composition comprises: a first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer, comprising a polysiloxane block with an average block length of 10 to 100, and a siloxane content from 5 wt % to 10 wt %; and a second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising a polysiloxane block with an average block length of 10 to 100, and a siloxane content from 30 wt % to 60 wt %; wherein the weight ratio of the first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer to the second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer is greater than or equal to 2 to less than 8; and a bisphenol A homopolycarbonate, wherein the polycarbonate composition has a total siloxane content of 2.5 wt % to 10 wt % based on the total weight of the composition; and a molded part of 1 mm thickness has a haze of less than 10% as measured by HazeGard (ASTM D1003-00).

Polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer compositions, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture thereof

A polycarbonate composition comprises: a first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising carbonate units and siloxane units, wherein less than 0.5 mol % of the siloxane units are directly coupled to another siloxane unit; the first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising siloxane units with an average block length of about 10 to about 100, and a siloxane content from 5 wt % to 8 wt %; a second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising carbonate units and siloxane units, wherein less than 0.5 mol % of the siloxane units are directly coupled to another siloxane unit; the second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising siloxane units with an average block length of 10 to 100, a siloxane content from 10 wt % to 30 wt %, and wherein the weight ratio of the first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer to the second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer is 2 to 20; and optionally a bisphenol polycarbonate; wherein the polycarbonate composition has a total siloxane content of 2.5 wt % to 10 wt % and a molded part of 1 mm thickness has a haze of less than 2% as measured by HazeGard (ASTM D1003-00).

A railway component comprises a polycarbonate composition comprising: a first polycarbonate selected from a linear polycarbonate homopolymer, a branched polycarbonate, a poly(carbonate-bisphenol arylate ester), a poly(aliphatic ester-carbonate), or a combination thereof; a second polymer different from the first polycarbonate, the second polymer comprising a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer, a polydialkylsiloxane, a silicone graft copolymer, or a combination thereof, wherein siloxane units in the second polymer are present in an amount of 0.3 to 3 wt. %, based on the total weight of the composition; and 10 to 40 wt. % of glass fiber, based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition.
