An incident prediction system and an incident prediction method are provided for predicting an incident. The system comprises a crowd detection interface for receiving a plurality of mobile device identifiers and an incident database wherein a plurality of weight factors is associated with a plurality of stored mobile device identifiers. The weights associated to mobile devices which were present at a site during a previous, historical incident are higher. The system further comprises a prediction subsystem configured for determining a total weight factor at a site to predict an occurrence of an incident. The system and the method may provide information on a composition of a crowd which may help to better prevent incidents from happening. As such, the provided system and method may enable a more effective prediction of incidents compare to currently available systems and methods.

Incident prediction system

A method and apparatus analyze a difference of at least two gradings of an image on the basis of: obtaining a first graded picture (LDR) with a first luminance dynamic range; obtaining data encoding a grading of a second graded picture (HDR) with a second luminance dynamic range, different from the first luminance dynamic range; and determining a grading difference data structure (DATGRAD) on the basis of at least the data encoding the grading of the second graded picture (HDR), which allows more intelligently adaptive encoding of the imaged scenes, and consequently also better use of those pictures, such as higher quality rendering under various rendering scenarios.

Apparatus and methods for analyzing image gradings

Lighting-system and a lighting-system control method

A system for determining a distance to an object comprises an image capture device () which has a coded aperture and an image sensor which is positioned out of a focus plane of the coded aperture. A receiver () receives an image of a scene from the image sensor and a detector () detects at least two image objects of the image corresponding to ghost images of the object resulting from different openings of the coded aperture in response to an optical characteristic of the object. A distance estimator () then determines a distance to the object in response to a displacement in the image of the at least two image objects. The distance may be to a person and the image may be a bright pupil image wherein pupils are enhanced by reflection of light by the retina. The image may be compensated by a dark pupil image of the scene.

Object distance determination from image

An apparatus for determining a propagation velocity for a surface wave comprises a coherent light source () for generating at least a first and a second light spot on a surface (). A camera () captures at least one out-of-focus image of at least a part of the surface () comprising the light spots. The out-of-focus image comprises light spot image objects for the light spots where the light spot image objects have speckle patterns. An analyzer () determines the propagation velocity in response to a time difference between speckle pattern changes in the two speckle patterns. The camera may specifically use a rolling shutter allowing the determination of the propagation velocity to be based on a spatial analysis of the speckle patterns. The approach may in particular allow an efficient remote measuring of pulse wave velocities e.g. in animal tissue and in particular, in human tissue.

Determining a propagation velocity for a surface wave

An auto-stereoscopic display device includes a display panel having an array of display pixels for producing a display; and a view forming unit having an array of view forming elements. Each view forming elements is configurable to focus the outputs of groups of the display pixels into views projected towards a user in different directions. The display device further includes a view deflecting unit to selectably change the directions in which the plurality of views is projected towards the user. The view deflecting unit includes at least one birefringent prism having a first refractive index for light having a first polarization direction and a second refractive index for light having a second polarization direction. The view deflecting unit further includes a polarization switch in registration with the birefringent prism for providing the birefringent prism with display light having the first or second polarization direction.

There is provided a method for detecting modulated light comprising: receiving a set of images acquired by means of a rolling shutter camera having image acquisition settings comprising a frame rate, f, and a line rate, f; identifying in consecutive frames of said images&#x2014;a pattern governed by the ratio between a modulation frequency, fc, of a modulated light source and the line rate, f, and&#x2014;between consecutive frames a spatial shift of said pattern governed by the ratio between said modulation frequency fc, and said frame rate, f; and providing based on said pattern and spatial shift thereof, an estimate of the modulated light amplitude from said light source.

Light detection system and method

A multi-spectral camera comprises a blocking element () having at least one hole () allowing light to pass through. A dispersive element () spreads light from the at least one hole () in different wavelength dependent directions and a lens () focuses light from the dispersive element () on an image plane (). A microlens array () receives light from the lens () and an image sensor () receives the light from the microlens array () and generates a pixel value signal which comprises incident light values for the pixels of the image sensor (). A processor then generates a multi-spectral image from the pixel value signal. The approach may allow a single instantaneous sensor measurement to provide a multi-spectral image comprising at least one spatial dimension and one spectral dimension. The multi-spectral image may be generated by post-processing of the sensor output and no physical filtering or moving parts are necessary.

Generation of high dynamic range images from low dynamic range images in multiview video coding

In a method, unit and display device, the input image signal is split into a regional contrast signal and a detail signal, followed by stretching separately the dynamic ranges for at least one of the signals. The dynamic range for the regional contrast signal is stretched with a higher stretch ratio than the dynamic range for the detail signal. The stretch ratio for the detail signal may be near 1 or 1. Further, highlights are identified, and for the highlights the dynamic range is stretched to an even higher degree than for the regional contrast signal.

The invention relates to a detection system for determining whether a light contribution of a light source is present at a selected position within a 2D scene. The light contribution includes an embedded code comprising a repeating sequence of N symbols. The detection system includes a camera and a processing unit. The camera is configured to acquire a series of images of the scene via specific open/closure patterns of the shutter. Each image includes a plurality of pixels, each pixel representing an intensity of the light output of the light source at a different physical position within the scene. The processing unit is configured to process the acquired series of images to determine whether the light contribution of the first light source is present at the selected physical position within the scene by e.g. correlating a sequence of pixels of the acquired series corresponding to the selected physical position with the first sequence of N symbols.
