Aspects and embodiments relate to a method and apparatus configured to perform that method. The method relates to generating an indication of relevance associated with a selected biological phenomenon indicative of condition of an immune system of a patient, that selected biological phenomenon being associated with response of a patient to a chosen therapy. The method comprises steps of: determining one or more measurable input parameters characteristic of the patient and associated with the biological phenomenon; mapping the one or more input parameters to a contribution to a score associated with the selected biological phenomenon; and combining the mapped contributions across the one or more input parameters to calculate the score associated with the selected biological phenomenon. A decision support system in accordance with aspects and embodiments may be configured to provide a score and/or visualisation, for example, a numerical value or graphical representation, relating to one or more underlying biological phenomena contributing to immune response or immune condition of a patient to a therapy. The underlying biological phenomena may be quantified using various biomarkers and/or measurable input parameters.

Prediction tool for patient immune response to a therapy

A computerized system for monitoring cancer therapy and a related method. The system comprises an input port (IN) for receiving two or more input images acquired of a subject, the two or more input images capable of recording metabolic activity and extracellular pH level. An evaluator (EVAL) of the system is configured to assess, based on the input images, i) a change over time in metabolic activity and ii) a change over time in extracellular pH level. The evaluator (EVAL) is further configured to establish, based on the assessment, an indication on whether or not there is a response to a cancer therapy in relation to a lesion of the subject or on whether the assessment is inconclusive. A computer-implemented method for determining tumor heterogeneity is provided. Embodiments of the method involve analyzing a radiological image of a tumor to calculate a value indicative of tumor activity at each of a plurality of locations in the tumor; determining whether each calculated value is above a predetermined threshold; and calculating a heterogeneity score for the tumor; wherein the heterogeneity score is calculated based on a volume fraction of the tumor having a value indicative of tumor activity above the predetermined threshold. Radiology-based risk assessment for biopsy-based scores

Disclosed is a system for analysis of microscopic image data acquired from biological cells. The system includes a data processing system which is configured to read the image data and determine a plurality of vertices, wherein each of the vertices represents a location of an entity of interest within a region of interest of the image data. The data processing system generates a plurality of graphs, wherein for each of the graphs, the generation of the respective graph includes generating a plurality of edges, wherein each of the edges has two of the plurality of vertices associated therewith. For each of the graphs one or more vertex sets are identified, each of which consisting of one or more of the plurality of vertices. The data processing system further determines, for each of the graphs, a number of the identified vertex sets.

The invention relates to a method for use in characterizing lesions in radiology images, comprising performing a computer-based analysis of a pathology image of a sample of a lesion of a subject in order to recognize tissue and/or cellular characteristics of the lesion, wherein the analysis produces a derived pathology image that represents the recognized tissue and/or cellular characteristics, computing one or more radiology features for the lesion from a radiology image of the lesion, and determining correlations between the computed one or more radiology features and the recognized tissue and/or cellular characteristics. With this method, biological ground truth information can be used to identify radiology features that are indicative of certain tissue and/or cellular characteristics of lesions and that may therefore be better suited for characterizing the lesions. Such radiology features can then be used together with the corresponding correlations for an improved characterization of lesions in radiology images.

Characterizing lesions in radiology images

Information transformation in digital pathology

A method is presented that enables the spatial mapping of nucleic acids of tissue samples with high resolution and without sacrificing the degree of multiplexing that is available from next-generation sequencing. The method is based on the application of patterns of barcoded oligonucleotides probes onto predefined locations in a region of interest in a tissue sample. Every nucleic acid analyzed can be allocated to a certain position inside the sample based on the barcode. Various printing technologies can be used and different ways of patterning can be employed, like a regular array with a certain pitch or alternatively an object-based patterning with defined regions of interest without shape constraints.

Spatial mapping of molecular profiles of biological tissue samples

The present invention relates to digital pathology. In order to improve the workflow in the process of selecting a region of interest of an unstained sample to be removed for molecular diagnostic, a method () is provided for selecting a sample removing area of an unstained sample to be removed for molecular diagnostic. The method comprises the following steps: In a first step, also referred to as step a), a reference removing area is selected in a reference image of a reference slice of an object, wherein biological material in the reference slice is stained. In a second step, also referred to as step b), a digital sample image of a sample slice of the object is obtained under an imaging setting. The biological material in the sample slice is unstained.
