A pressure plate assembly for a friction clutch includes a housing, a pressing plate arranged to rotate with the housing, and a force accumulator arranged to exert an axial force on the pressing plate. A wear take-up element between the accumulator and the pressing plate moves to adjust for wear, and an adjusting member is brought into a take-up starting position when wear occurs and is acted on by centrifugal force in order to carry out an adjusting movement wherein the adjusting member moves out of the take-up starting position. The adjusting member cooperates with the wear take-up element by way of a transmission member which moves with respect to the wear take-up element when the adjusting member is brought into the take-up starting position. During the adjusting movement, the transmission member is acted upon by the adjusting member and moves jointly with the wear take-up element.

Pressure plate assembly for a friction clutch

A pressure plate assembly, comprising a housing; a pressure plate, which is installed in the housing and which is connected by a connecting arrangement to the housing so that it can rotate in common with the housing around an axis of rotation (A) and also move in the direction parallel to the axis of rotation (A); a force-exerting arrangement, which is supported against the housing and the pressure plate, by means of which arrangement force can be exerted on the pressure plate to produce an engaged state; and a wear take-up device with at least one adjusting element, which is under the pretensioning force of a pretensioning arrangement so that adjusting movements can be carried out, characterized in that a blocking arrangement is provided, which can act on the adjusting element, where, as a function of centrifugal force, the blocking arrangement either releases the adjusting element completely or to a limited, predetermined extent so that an adjusting process can be carried out or completely prevents any such adjusting movement.

Pressure plate assembly

A centrifugal clutch includes a housing which is rotatable about an axis, the housing having a plurality of first supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis; a pressing plate which is axially movable with respect to the housing and is coupled to the housing for rotation about the axis; and a supporting element which is axially movable with respect to the housing, the supporting element having a plurality of second supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis, each second support area being separated from a respective first support area by an axial distance which decreases with radial distance from the axis. A plurality of centrifugal members are supported between respective pairs of first and second support areas, each the centrifugal member being radially displaceable by centrifugal force along the respective pair of support areas to exert force in a clutch engaging direction along a force transmission path between the supporting element and the pressing plate. A wear compensation device is provided in the force transmission path between the supporting plate and the pressing plate.

Centrifugal clutch

An actuation force generating arrangement for a centrifugal clutch includes a housing, a supporting element, and a plurality of centrifugal members. The housing is rotatable about an axis, the housing having a plurality of first supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis. The supporting element is axially movable with respect to the housing and has a plurality of second supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis, each second support area being separated from a respective first support area by an axial distance which decreases with radial distance from the axis. Each of the first and second support areas has a first portion and a second portion which lies radially outside of the first portion, the first and second support areas being inclined with respect to each other at a relative inclination angle which is greater at the second portions than at the first portions. The centrifugal members are supported between respective pairs of first and second support areas, each centrifugal member being radially displaceable by centrifugal force along a respective pair of support areas.

Arrangement for generating actuation force in a centrifugal clutch

A centrifugal clutch includes a housing which is rotatable about an axis, the housing having a plurality of first supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis; a pressing plate which is axially movable with respect to the housing and is coupled to the housing for rotation about the axis; and a supporting member which is axially movable with respect to the housing, the supporting member having a plurality of second supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis, each second support area being separated from a respective first support area by an axial distance which decreases with radial distance from the axis. A plurality of centrifugal members are supported between respective pairs of first and second support areas, each the centrifugal member being radially displaceable by centrifugal force along the respective pair of support areas to exert force in a clutch engaging direction along a force transmission path between the supporting element and the pressing plate. The supporting member is guided through a guide arrangement during axial movement of the supporting member with respect to the housing.

A centrifugal clutch includes a housing which is rotatable about an axis, the housing having a plurality of first supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis; a pressing plate which is axially movable with respect to the housing and is coupled to the housing for rotation about the axis; and a supporting element which is axially movable on an actuation path with respect to the housing, the supporting element having a plurality of second supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis, each second support area being separated from a respective first support area by an axial distance which decreases with radial distance from the axis. A plurality of centrifugal members are supported between respective pairs of first and second support areas, each the centrifugal member being radially displaceable by centrifugal force along the respective pair of support areas to exert force in a clutch engaging direction along a force transmission path between the supporting element and the pressing plate. An actuation force transmission arrangement in the force transmission path between the supporting element and the pressing plate exerts an actuation force on the supporting element in a clutch releasing direction, the actuation force increasing as the supporting element is increasingly adjusted in the clutch engaging direction, the actuation force having a gradient, with respect to the actuation path, which decreases in the clutch engaging direction.

A centrifugal clutch includes a housing which is rotatable about an axis, the housing having a plurality of first supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis; a pressing plate which is axially movable with respect to the housing and is coupled to the housing for rotation about the axis; and a supporting element which is axially movable with respect to the housing, the supporting element having a plurality of second supporting areas which each extend radially with respect to the axis, each second support area being separated from a respective first support area by an axial distance which decreases with radial distance from the axis. A plurality of centrifugal members are supported between respective pairs of first and second support areas, each the centrifugal member being radially displaceable by centrifugal force along the respective pair of support areas to exert force along a force transmission path between the supporting element and the pressing plate. An energy accumulator arrangement acts between the supporting element and the pressing plate to load the pressing plate away from the supporting element in a clutch engaging direction, and a clutch release arrangement provides a releasing force in opposition to the load of the energy accumulator arrangement.

A wear take-up device in the path of force transmission between the pressure plate and the force-exerting arrangement includes at least one take-up element, which can be shifted to compensate for wear; a blocking element with a detection section which can come to rest against a stop fixed to the housing upon the occurrence of wear and which can move with respect to the pressure plate; and a wedge-like arresting element, which is pretensioned by a pretensioning arrangement toward a state in which the detection section is arrested and thus prevented from returning to its previous position. A retaining device opposes the pretensioning action of the pretensioning arrangement at least under the conditions in which the detection section has essentially not been moved out of an arrested position with respect to the pressure plate.

A pressure plate, which is connected to a housing arrangement for rotation in common around an axis of rotation, and a force-exerting arrangement preferably a force-storing device, is supported against the housing arrangement and the pressure plate so that it can exert force on them. At least one wear take-up element of a wear take-up device is provided in the path of support between the force-exerting arrangement and the pressure plate. The wear take-up element has a manually operated adjusting element, which is movably supported on the pressure plate and engages with the at least one wear take-up element so that this element can be shifted with respect to the assembly to compensate for the wear which has occurred.

A pressure plate assembly for a friction clutch including a housing having an axis of rotation; a pressure plate mounted in the housing with freedom to move axially relative to the housing; a stored-energy element mounted in the housing and transmitting force along a path from the housing to the pressure plate; a wear-compensating device in the path of force transmission, which device has at least one adjusting element free to move in an adjusting direction to compensate for wear; and a clearance-producing arrangement having at least one gripping element, which is attached to the assembly upon which the stored-energy element acts via the wear-compensating device. The minimum of one gripping element has a blocking section, by means of which it can make blocking contact with a blocking element when wear occurs. The clearance-producing arrangement also includes an arresting element which can be shifted in an arresting direction when the gripping element comes into contact with the blocking element, thereby arresting the gripping element in the shifted position correlating with the amount of wear which has occurred. A transport-securing device prevents moving the adjusting element in the adjusting direction and/or moving the arresting element in the arresting direction prior to attaching the housing to the centrifugal mass.

A pressure plate assembly for a friction clutch comprises a housing arrangement; a pressure plate, which is inside the housing arrangement and which can rotate along with it around an axis of rotation; a force-exerting arrangement, preferably a force-storing device, supported against the housing arrangement and the pressure plate; and a wear take-up device in the path of force transmission between the force-exerting arrangement and the pressure plate. At least one wear take-up element can be moved in order to compensate for wear, and an adjusting element is able to make an adjusting movement which causes the minimum of one wear take-up element to move and thus to compensate for wear, where the adjusting element can be caused to execute its adjusting movement by the action of centrifugal force.

A pressure plate assembly includes a housing designed to be attached to a flywheel; a pressure plate mounted in the housing with freedom to move in a direction parallel to an axis of rotation; a stored-energy device; and a wear take-up device acting in the path of force transmission between the stored-energy device and the pressure plate, where the wear take-up device has at least one take-up element which can be moved in a take-up direction to compensate for wear. A play sensor arrangement includes a detection element provided on the pressure plate, which element, upon the occurrence of wear, makes contact or can be brought into contact with a blocking element, which is fixed in position with respect to the housing arrangement. The blocking element has a fastening area, by which it is fixed in position with respect to the housing arrangement, and a contact area, by which it makes contact with the detection element. The blocking element also has a support area so that the element can be supported with respect to the housing arrangement.

Each clutch disk has a hub area designed to be connected nonrotatably to a power takeoff element and a friction surface area designed to be clamped between opposing friction surfaces. Each clutch disk has a torsional vibration damper arrangement including two cover disk elements connected to the hub area for rotation in common, and a central disk element connected to the friction surface area for rotation in common. The central disk element is or can be brought into torque-transmitting connection with the cover disk elements via a damper element arrangement. The central disk element has a damper element interaction area and, radially outside the damper element interaction area, a friction surface carrier area, which is offset with respect to the damper element interaction area in the direction of an axis of rotation.

Friction clutch, especially a multi-disk clutch

A pressure plate assembly for a friction clutch, which assembly includes a housing; a pressure plate connected to the housing for rotation in common around an axis of rotation and which is free to move axially with respect to the housing; a stored-energy device, which pretensions the pressure plate in the axial direction with respect to the housing; a wear-compensating device which acts in the path of support between the stored-energy device and at least one of the housing and the pressure plate and comprises at least one wear-compensating element which is free to move when wear occurs and/or when wear is compensated; an indicator arrangement, comprising at least one indicator opening in the housing and at least one indicator element on a wear-compensating element. The indicator element at least partially fills at least one indicator opening in at least one state of wear; information concerning the amount of wear which has occurred can be derived from the position of the indicator element relative to the minimum of one indicator opening.

A housing arrangement for a friction clutch, especially for a multi-disk clutch, where the housing arrangement is designed approximately in the shape of a cup and is provided with a bottom area and an edge area for connection to a flywheel. At least one air through-opening is provided in the bottom area, each opening being bounded by a front edge and a rear edge with respect to the direction of rotation, the front edge being axially offset toward the interior of the housing with respect to said rear edge.
