The present invention relates to a continuous process for preparing permselective hollow fiber membranes being suitable e.g. for hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration and hemofiltration of blood which comprises a two-stage drying and tempering treatment of the hollow fiber membranes. According to a further aspect, the invention relates to a continuous process for drying permselective hollow fiber membranes on-line. The invention also relates to devices for on-line drying of permselective hollow fiber membranes.

The present disclosure relates to a spinneret for producing hollow fiber membranes in a phase inversion process.

The present disclosure relates to a dialyzer comprising a bundle of semipermeable hollow fiber membranes which is suitable for blood purification, wherein the dialyzer has an increased ability to remove larger molecules while at the same time it is able to effectively remove small uremic toxins and efficiently retain albumin and larger proteins. The invention also relates to using said dialyzer in hemodialysis.

Hemodialyzer for blood purification

The present disclosure relates to semipermeable membranes which are suitable for blood purification, e.g. by hemodialysis, which have an increased ability to remove larger molecules while at the same time effectively retaining albumin. The membranes are characterized by a molecular retention onset (MWRO) of between 9.0 kD and 14.5 kD and a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of between 55 kD and 130 kD as determined by dextran sieving curves and can be prepared by industrially feasible processes excluding a treatment with salt before drying. The invention therefore also relates to a process for the production of the membranes and to their use in medical applications.

Membrane for blood purification

The present disclosure relates to capillary dialyzers for blood purification, in particular, capillary dialyzers suitable for home hemodialysis systems.

Capillary dialyzer

A semipermeable asymmetric hollow fiber membrane is provided, based on a hydrophobic polymer, such as polyethersulfone or polysulfone, and on a hydrophilic polymer, such as PVP. The PVP polymer comprises a high molecular weight component and a low molecular weight component. The membrane has a significantly improved permeability and selectivity, based on its structure, composition, and the method of manufacture of the membrane A process for manufacturing such a membrane by a solvent phase inversion spinning process is also provided.

The present disclosure relates to capillary dialyzers for blood purification comprising from 85-95% crimped fibers and from 5-15% non-crimped fibers.

Capillary dialyzers

A capillary dialyzer comprises: a) a housing; a bundle of semi-permeable hollow fiber membranes; c) end walls supporting the first and second ends of the hollow fiber membranes; d) a first end cap covering a first end of the housing and a second end cap covering a second end of the housing; e) an inlet and an outlet; f) support rings; and g) sealing rings interposed between the end wall and the first end cap and between the end wall and the second end cap, respectively. A circular groove of the end cap which receives the wall of the housing comprises indentations for creating a fluid connection between the inside of the capillary dialyzer and its exterior when the end caps are mounted on the housing but have not yet been welded to the housing.
