Device for bridging expansion joints

A joint covering has an elastic mat that is cast in situ and lies on rigid plates bridge the gap. The plates are controlled by providing the mat with elastomeric projections on its underside which engage the plates. The elastic behavior of the mat is not impaired in any way as a result.

In the case of a bridging arrangement for expansion joints in the carriageways of bridges or the like having a plurality of parallel plates (1-5) which are adjacent to the surface of the carriageway, run at right-angles to the direction of the carriageway and are supported on bars (6-10) which bridge the joint gap and are displaceably mounted in the edges (14, 15) of the joint, each plate is rigidly connected to two or more bars, but each bar is rigidly connected to not more than one plate. The spacings of the plates is controlled by means of elastomeric bearing members (19), the bars being supported by bearing members of that type that are on one or both of the plates and the two outer bars being supported likewise by bearing members of that type which are on the two edges (14, 15) of the joint, each on a different edge. This type of arrangement of the bearing member described results additionally in an especially even distribution of the vertical loads.

Bridging arrangement for expansion joints in the carriageways of bridges

An arrangement for bridging expansion joints in carriageways, especially bridges. One or more parallel plates run at right-angles to the direction of the carriageway adjacent at the top to the surface of the carriageway. The plates are supported at the bottom on bars which run at right-angles to the expansion joint and transmit loads directly or indirectly into the edges of the joint adjacent thereto. For controlling the spacing of the plates, control cables are provided. The plates are connected to the cable runs of the control cables. The cable runs run parallel to the bars and are attached either to the load-transmitting bars themselves or to separate control bars.

The connecting strip is made of a resilient material and is adapted to be inserted into a joint, a connecting element (16) engaging in an undercut groove (9) in the edge-element (7,8) of a joint. A continuous longitudinal notch (13) in the strip facilitates deformation of the connecting element (16). In order to facilitate the installation of the said strip in the sealing position in the joint, the said notch is arranged on the inside of the said connecting element, and the latter is buckled towards the middle of the joint, thus opening the notch. In the ultimate position, the connecting element is straightened and the notch closed.

Expansion joint

An elongated plate of elastomeric material is provided with anchoring means along its side edges for fixedly connecting the same to the sections of the road bed on opposite sides of the gap. Spring means are embedded within the plate transverse to the longitudinal axis and secured at its ends to the respective anchoring means so as to be expanded and/or contracted corresponding to the movement of the road section. The spring means preferably comprise helically wound coils spaced in parallel to each other, transverse to the longitudinal direction of the plate.

Highway expansion joint

An elongated elastomeric strip has means along the longitudinal edge for fastening to a receiving element secured in a roadbed. The fastening element comprises at least one set of retaining members, each having a head portion at least in part embedded and bonded securely in the elastomeric strip and a projecting portion depending from the strip. The retaining members are arranged so that the projecting ends of some of them face oppositely to the projecting ends of the others of them, thereby being relatively movable toward and away from each other under deformation of said strip and cooperate to resiliently clamp onto the receiving element. The projecting ends of the retaining members are preferably claw-like.

Highway expansion joint assembly

A sealing body assembly for use in sealing the clearance between adjacent parts of a support structure such as a bridge and an elastomeric pressure cushion includes a plurality of sealing elements linked together releasably. The sealing elements are at least partially embedded in the elastomeric pressure cushion. The sealing elements are releasably connected by cooperable stud elements and recesses formed in opposed projections of such sealing elements.

Sealing body assembly for use with support structures in conjunction

A sliding swing bearing having upper and lower supporting members, one of which is movable relatively to the other and a slide member interposed therebetween in sliding contact with at least the movable supporting member. The slide member is formed of at least one series of uniformly shaped elements having cooperable peripheral contact edges and arranged in an endless interengaging chain, forming a central pocket. A lubricant is located in the pocket.

The disclosure relates to a joint-edge element for expansion joints in roadways wherein the anchoring parts, that extend in the longitudinal direction of the joint, just as the remaining parts of the joint-edge profiled element, are joined in one piece to the joint-edge element. At least one profiled part of the joint-edge element is produced by dividing the double profiled element in two profiled halves. Joint-edge elements having the double length of the particular extrusion casting or rolled element are produced through a single operation of extrusion or rolling. A particularly expedient embodiment is produced in such a manner that the anchoring parts are formed by parting a connecting portion of the double profiled element. The parting operation can be performed without considering the precision of manufacture, with relatively low expenditure. A secure holding and a perfect embedding in the concrete under-structure can be obtained in such a manner that the anchoring parts are produced through the parting operation effected along a line extending in the longitudinal direction of the joint and effecting a serration-type reciprocal meshing of the two halves of the connecting part. The line can here be undulated, dented or provided with another regular or irregular curvature. The serration type gaps permit one to obtain a perfect concrete work, since no cavities have to be filled.

Joint edge body for expansion joints in roads

The present expansion gap sealing device has a plurality of strips and elastomeric bodies between adjacent strips which extend longitudinally through the gap. The strips are supported by legs extending downwardly into the gap. Upper ends of the legs are connected to the strips. Lower ends of the strips are interconnected with each other in pairs whereby adjacent legs form a pair and an elastically yielding structure. The lower leg ends may be interconnected by bars and the entire supporting structure may be guided by movably supported guide means in the gap.

Expansion gap sealing device

A sliding swing bearing in which a resilient cushion is interposed between a pair of supports, at least one of which is movable. The cushion is provided with a load-absorbing insert, of a harder material, spaced about its periphery, which are only partially embedded in the cushion and extend radially outward. The cushion is enclosed by an annular ring casing, the wall of which is formed so as to receive and engage the extending portion of the insert.

Sliding swing support for bridges or similar supporting structures

A slide-rocker bearing having an elastic pressure cushion arranged between a pair of opposed bearing members, peripherally enclosed in a casing which is spaced from the bearing members so as to permit at least one of the bearing members to tilt. A slide plate is interposed between the tiltable bearing member and the pressure cushion and support means is inserted at least between the marginal edges of the slide plate and the pressure cushion. Means are provided for fixing the slide plate support means to the casing and thereby enclose the support within the peripheral confines of the casing in contact with the pressure cushion.

Sliding bearing for bridges or similar structures

The invention concerns a rocker bearing comprising a pair of bearing members, disposed between construction parts, and an elastic pressure cushion between the bearing members and for operation at large bearing rocking angles with improved flexibility of the pressure cushion there are provided one or more groups of sealing bodies at least in part embedded in the pressure cushion, each group containing bodies disposed at intervals in the region of an annular gap between the pair of bearing members.
