A cutting insert for tooth cutters includes a substantially cuboid basic body. The basic body has two top surfaces on sides opposite each other. The basic body also has four circumferential surfaces which extend in each case from an edge portion of the one top surface to an edge portion of the other top surface. A cutting edge is formed at at least one transition from each circumferential surface to one of the top surfaces.

Cutting insert for tooth cutters

The invention relates to a side-milling cutter for producing a toothing system, having at least one insert having a rectangular cross section arranged in a holding pocket as an insert seat, having two top surfaces facing away from each other, having two long insert sides located opposite each other and also having two narrow insert sides located opposite each other. Of four cutting edges of the insert which extend along the long insert sides in the longitudinal direction, in each case two cutting edges delimit the top surfaces of the insert at the edge, each cutting edge extending in a curve.

Side-milling cutter, in particular for machining toothing systems

A machine tool for cutting a profile in a rotating workpiece has a body centered having an elongated edge formed with an angularly extending row of seats each having a radially directed seat face and an axially directed seat face. Respective Z-shaped holders in the seats each have an outer part, an inner part parallel thereto, and a flexible middle part transversely connecting the inner and outer parts. Respective fasteners releasably fixing the inner parts to the body against relative movement. Respective cutting are fixed on the outer parts of the holders. An adjustment wedge between one of the seat faces and the respective holder face is displaceable to shift the outer part of the respective holder relative to the body and transversely of the respective one seat face.

Method of and apparatus for machining crankpins

The invention relates to a cutting insert (,) with 8 usable cutting edges and with large longitudinal surfaces, each comprising a protruding rib (,) in the center along their longitudinal axes. The cutting edges (,) defining said longitudinal surfaces form an angle of 70&deg;<(90&deg;&minus;&bgr;)<90&deg; with their respective ends and the short rounded edges (,) of the upper and lower surfaces (,). According to the invention, milling tools are fitted with a plurality of such cutting inserts.

A cutting insert for milling has a generally perpendicular cutting face that is peripherally bounded by respective main cutting edges and has free faces set at a positive angle and having common edges forming auxiliary cutting edges. The insert has a positive cutting angle and the cutting face has in the region of an adjacent main cutting edge forming a cutting corner a flat or recess which extends into both adjacent main cutting edges.
