A protective circuit for protecting an electronic circuit from transient excess voltages, in particular, a series connection of at least two voltage-limiting circuit components being provided between a first connection terminal and a second connection terminal of an input of the protective circuit, each of the two voltage-limiting circuit components having at least one semiconductor element. At least one output terminal is provided at an output for connecting the electronic circuit to be protected to the protective circuit, the output terminal being connected to a circuit node disposed between the two voltage-limiting circuit components.

A method for improving the resolution of an A/D converter and/or a converter system having an S/H device and an A/D converter is described. In order to improve the resolution of the A/D converter, an auxiliary signal is superposed on an analog signal, and the superposed signal is sampled and converted into digital output values using the A/D converter. Based on the digital output values, it is possible to determine an output value having higher resolution, e.g., by averaging.

Frequency converters for converting electrical energy, in particular for a vehicle electrical system, are proposed which have individual partial frequency converters and include at least one half bridge, as a result of which there are at least one high-side switch and one low-side switch with a predeterminable number of switches. The high-side switch and low-side switch have a common connection that is connected to means that produce the electrical energy. Parallel to the half bridge, there is an intermediary circuit capacitor whose capacitance should be as low as possible. To this end, the switches of the half bridge are triggered offset from one another so that the current to be supplied by the intermediary circuit capacitor remains as low as possible. Various possibilities are disclosed for the arrangement of the chokes of the frequency converter.

Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for controlled parallel operation of direct current converters, particularly in a multi voltage vehicle electrical system, with two voltage ranges (U,) and (U,). The parallel-connected voltage converters are disposed between the voltage ranges; in this connection, only one of the voltage converters is embodied as an active voltage regulator that functions all the time. The other (n&minus;1) converters function either in full load operation or no load operation depending on the required power demand.
