A whirlpool with an inner chamber for hot break separation by means of the whirlpool effect. In order to remove undesired volatile substances from the wort in a simple manner, the whirlpool comprises an integrated stripper, which has an outer chamber arranged around the inner chamber, for evaporating undesired volatile substances from the wort that has been transferred from the inner chamber.

A method and device for converting thermal energy from carbonaceous raw materials into mechanical work is provided. The device includes at least one first and one second device for storing and releasing thermal energy connected at least intermittently alternatingly in a turbine branch having a gas turbine connected downstream. The method includes the steps of: a) combusting a gas in a gas burner; b) passing the smoke gases arising in the gas burner through a device for storing thermal energy; and c) feeding the hot air released by at least one device into the gas turbine, wherein the gasification of the carbonaceous raw materials takes place in a gasifier in a first step and the product gas is fed into the gas burner connected downstream of the gasifier.

The present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling the wort flow from a lauter tun. To shorten the lautering time, according to the present invention a second increased outflow value which is to be reached within a given time interval is predetermined in the course of the total sequence of a brewing process (first wort, second worts) in at least one phase (trending phase), based on a predetermined outflow value of the wort outflow, the increase in flow rate/per time unit (increase value) as is required for attaining the second outflow value is determined on the basis of these values, and the determined increase value is used as a set value for controlling an outflow regulator.
