An elevator belt monitoring apparatus includes a housing for receiving an elevator belt and a plurality of blade contacts which are operable to pierce the belt and engage the spaced parallel cords arranged within the belt. A plurality of bridge contacts are connected with adjacent pairs of elevator belt cords and signal contacts are connected with cords at the outer edges of the belts. The signal contacts are connected with a monitoring device which sends and receives signals to the contacts to provide an indication of the condition or deterioration of the belt.

Elevator belt monitoring apparatus and blade contact

An assembly comprising (a) a belt, which includes a plurality of wire cords extending lengthwise of the belt with spaces therebetween, and includes a coating of the cords extending into the spaces between the cords, said belt being configured for use in an elevator system as a suspension belt for a car and a counterweight, or being configured for use in an elevator system as a drive belt for a car or for a counterweight, or being configured for use in an elevator system as a combined suspension and drive belt for a car and a counterweight; (b) a first connecting device including a first number of cord contacting elements providing electrical connections contacting element-to-cord; and (c) a second connecting device, including a second number of cord contacting elements providing electrical connections contacting element-to-cord, and including at least two conductive elements, each being electrically connected to a respective one of the cord contacting elements, the conductive elements being provided for making electrical connections to a belt monitoring unit which monitors the proper condition of the cords on the basis of electrical signals passed through the cords; (d) wherein at least one of the first and second connecting devices includes at least one bridge type cord contacting element, which extends into the gap between two cords and provides electrical connection to both cords, thereby electrically connecting the two cords.

A connector arrangement for connecting the bare ends of a plurality of insulated conductors to a horizontal row of first contacts arranged on an electrical device, respectively, including a main housing having a side portion containing a chamber in which the electrical device is mounted, a connector housing pivotally connected with the main housing for pivotal movement about a vertical pivot axis between engaged and disengaged positions, the connector housing supporting a horizontal row of conductor contacts arranged to engage the first contacts when the contact housing is in the engaged position, and a manually-operable locking arrangement for locking the connector housing in the engaged position. The locking arrangement includes a locking projection fixed to the main housing, a catch member movably connected with the connector housing, and an actuating member for displacing the catch member between locked and unlocked positions relative to the locking projection.

Plug arrangement for connecting electrical conductors with an electrical assembly

Conductor connecting apparatus for connecting with a housing an insulated conductor having a bare end portion from which the insulation layer has been removed, comprising a housing containing an access opening communicating with a chamber contained within the housing, an annular mounting ring adapted for mounting concentrically about the insulated layer of the conductor, a fastening device for fastening the mounting ring to the insulated layer of the conductor, and a connecting arrangement for connecting the mounting ring with the access opening such that the conductor bare end portion extends into said housing chamber.

An electrical connector for electrically connecting a hollow bus bar member with an insulated multi-wire or braided conductor inserted axially therein, including a conductive contact screw that is threadably connected within a first opening contained in the bus bar member wall for axial displacement from a retracted position toward a fully penetrating position, thereby to cause a pointed end of the contact screw to successively pierce the adjacent insulation layer, extend diametrically through the multi-wire conductor, pierce the adjacent layer of insulation, and extend into a second opening contained in the adjacent bus bar member wall. The bus bar member may be soldered to a printed circuit board, thereby to connect the multi-wire conductor with conductors on the printed circuit board. Alternatively, plurality of bus bar members may be formed by stamping and bending from a common conductive metal sheet, with the bus bar members being interconnected by integral straps.

Connector arrangement for braided conductors

A connector arrangement includes a flat conductor component having a flat engagement portion, a conductive bus bar component having a flat engagement portion, and a conductive contact screw connecting the conductor and bus bar flat engagement portions in contiguous surface-to-surface electrical engagement. The contact screw has a pointed tip and is axially displaceable from a retracted position normal to and spaced from the flat conductor and bus bar engagement portions toward a connected position in which a pointed end of the screw penetrates or extends through openings in the bus bar and flat conductor engagement portions, and into a bore contained in a housing support surface. The housing support surface supports the flat engagement portions in either a horizontal orientation or a slightly inclined orientation relative to the horizontal upper surface of electrical panel component to which the flat conductor is connected and upon which the housing is mounted.

A terminal block connecting apparatus includes first and second support members displaceable from a disengaged condition toward an engaged condition in which corresponding main terminal blocks are brought into electrical engagement, characterized by the provision of first and second test terminal blocks connected with the support members for electrical engagement when the first and second support members are in an intermediate condition between the disengaged and engaged conditions. One of the test terminal blocks is supported by a carrier member for movement relative to the associated support member, whereby the test terminal blocks will remain in electrical engagement during displacement of the support members between the test and connected conditions. A friction retaining arrangement serves to resist displacement of the carrier member relative to its associated support member.

Electrical connecting and switching arrangement

A terminal block assembly includes an actuator member that is displaceable relative to a terminal block housing to transport an insulated conductor toward the insulating penetrating knife edges of a stationary electrical contact mounted within the housing, characterized by the provision of a guide pin and guide groove arrangement for guiding the actuator member during the displacement thereof relative to the housing.

A terminal block assembly includes at each end a generally U-shaped support spring having leg portions that extend upwardly in straddling relation on opposite sides of the stationary resilient contacts at opposite ends of the bus bar, thereby to support the stationary contacts as insulated conductors are displaced by actuator members toward cutting engagement with knife edges on the adjacent ends of the reversely inwardly directed stationary resilient contacts.
