For producing the superconducting material MgB2, a shapeable master alloy containing Mg and B, as well as at least one additional constituent, an LiMgB alloy is.The process permits the production of shaped elements of MgB2, for example by forging, casting, drawing, etc.

B-tris(silylvinyl)borazine is pyrolysed as a borazine precursor for the production of a B/N/C/Si ceramic. A high-temperature ceramic is obtained by means of a further pyrolysis at higher temperatures after a pre-pyrolysis, which is of high purity and essentially free of pores. The ceramic furthermore contains essentially no oxygen and is particularly suitable as a coating material and for the production of heating elements.

The electrode material for positive electrodes of rechargeable lithium batteries is based on a lithium transition metal oxide. Said lithium transition metal oxide is a lithium transmission metal mixed oxide with at least two transition metals (for example nickel and/or manganese), has a layer structure and is doped (for example, with aluminium and/or boron). This inventive electrode material is characterized by a high cycle stability, yet is still economical to produce.

Separable nanotubes are made from a transition metal oxide, preferably from a vanadium oxide of variable valence. They show a greater oxidation resistance than the carbon-based nanotubes known so far and offer many new and economic applications. The inventive nanotubes clearly show oxidation-reduction activities and are particularly suited as an active material for catalytic reactions.
