In a yarn splicing device having a splicing head defining a splicing chamber and a yarn insertion slot, a compressed air passageway network is formed for delivering compressed air into the splicing chamber, the passageway arrangement having opposed air discharge passageways which extend laterally with respect to the splicing chamber in spaced relation therealong in a common plane at the back side of the chamber opposite its entrance slot to open tangentially into the chamber in opposite directions for contacting the yarn ends with one another for splicing.

A device for producing a thread connection by splicing includes a splicing head having a splicing chamber formed therein in which a tension-proof thread connection is formed by mutually entangling, hooking, intermingling and/or wrapping fibers of thread ends, means for supplying heated splicing air to the splicing channel, and an adjustable heat source coupled to the splicing head.

Device for producing a thread connection by splicing

An automatic splicer for spun yarn, including open end spun yarn. Opposite yarn ends for splicing are inserted in opposed yarn clamping devices, adjacent yarn loop pulling devices, in a splicing slot of a splicing chamber, adjacent mechanical combing devices and in yarn severing devices. Excess yarn is cut from the yarn ends by the yarn severing devices at a predetermined distance from the splicing slot and the yarn loop pulling devices are advanced to pull the ends of the yarns to the combing devices at which air is applied to the yarn ends to direct the yarn ends to the combing devices. The yarn loop pulling devices are then partially retracted to feed the yarn ends into the combing devices at a controlled rate of feed for combing the yarn ends progressively from their ends to a length corresponding approximately to the length of the subsequent splice. The yarn loop pulling devices are then advanced further to withdraw the yarn ends from the clamping devices and into alignment in the splicing slot in which compressed air is applied to splice the yarn ends. The combing devices are rollers with needle clothing and they may be driven by the force of the air that is applied to the yarn ends to direct the yarn ends to the combing devices. Yarn feed slots may be formed in the splicing chamber extending transversely from the splicing slot to combing devices, in which case the severing and application of air for directing the yarn ends may be performed sequentially for the two yarns to avoid both yarn ends being drawn into the same feed slot.

A compressed air thread splicing device for producing a knot-free thread connection by splicing includes a splicing head having a splicing channel formed therein with two at least partially open ends for receiving threads to be joined in a given insertion direction and for alternately tangling, intertwining, swirling and winding fibers of the threads around each other, the splicing head having at least one compressed air inlet orifice formed therein leading into the splicing channel, the splicing head having at least one flow-channel formed therein branching off from the splicing channel transverse to the given insertion direction between the at least one inlet orifice and one of the ends of the splicing channel, and a switchable device connected to the at least one flow channel for generating a temporally limited current in the at least one flow channel in a flow direction away from the splicing channel.

Compressed air thread splicing device

A make-ready device for making a thread end ready preparatory to tying it to another thread end in a thread tying device, the make-ready device including s hollow body open at opposite ends thereof and traversible by a gas flow for receiving the thread end therein so as to at least partly stretch and parallelize the fibers of the thread end and cleanse them of short fibers, as well as for retaining the thread end therein, the gas flow being generated by an injected pressurized gas current, and pneumatically operative means conducting the injector gas for guiding the thread end in a central region of the inner hollow space of the hollow body.

Method for the knot-free connection of two threads formed of textile fibers of limited length having at least one twisted fiber strand, including a splicing device for mutually tangling, intermixing and intertwining individual fibers of the two threads, which includes inserting the two threads coming from opposite sides into the splicing device, trimming the end of each thread to a predetermined distance from the splicing device, vibrating, loosening, combing and separating the thread ends into individual fibers, cleaning and spreading apart each thread end by blowing compressed air into the splicing device obliquely to the longitudinal direction of the individual fibers and by beating, pulling and tearing with mechanical and pneumatic stresses in direction toward the thread ends, withdrawing the prepared thread ends from opposite sides up to the splicing device, tangling, mixing and hooking the individual fibers of the two thread ends to each other to form a splice connecting the threads after setting the splicing device in operation, introducing a thread twist into the splice, and removing the connected threads from the splicing device, and a device for carrying out the method.

A compressed gas splicing head assembly in an automatic splicing device for producing a knot-free thread connection by splicing, includes a compressed gas splicing head having a splicing channel with two ends formed therein defining a plane of symmetry in longitudinal direction of the splicing channel, the splicing head having outlets for the splicing channel formed therein, and the splicing head having at least two compressed gas injection openings formed therein discharging in said splicing channel mutually opposite and offset to the left and right of the plane of symmetry for holding and mutually tangling, bunching, swirling and winding fibers of two threads to be interconnected, said injection openings including an injection opening disposed closest to a given portion of each respective outlet, and thread and air guides each disposed at a respective one of the ends of the splicing channel, each of the guides obstructing a respective one of the given portions of the outlets, and the threads being disposed between at least two of the compressed air injection openings.

Method and apparatus for connecting an upper thread with a lower thread

Method and device for joining together an upper and a lower thread, which includes moving at least one first thread feeder from a thread pick-up position to a thread transfer position, inserting the upper and the lower threads into a longitudinal slot formed in a chamber, holding the threads in the slot until compressed air is admitted to the chamber, and at given positions during the movement of the first thread feeder; closing the chamber with a lid, automatically severing the ends of the upper and lower thread and blowing compressed air into the chamber.
