Disclosed is a method of estimating a property of an earth formation penetrated by a borehole. The method includes conveying a carrier through the borehole and performing a plurality of electrical measurements on the formation using a sensor disposed at the carrier and having a plurality of electrodes disposed in a concentric arrangement wherein a standoff distance between the sensor and a wall of the borehole has an influence on each electrical measurement in the plurality of electrical measurements. The method further includes determining an impedance for each electrical measurement in the plurality of electrical measurements and inputting the determined impedances into an artificial neural network implemented by a processor. The artificial neural network outputs the property wherein the outputted property compensates for the influence of sensor standoff distance on each electrical measurement in the plurality of electrical measurements.

The invention relates to a measuring arrangement for measuring the density of a product by means of microwaves. The measuring arrangement comprises a first microwave resonator, from which, in operation, microwaves enter a product area, and a device for compensating for environmental influences and disturbance variables affecting the measuring signal of the first microwave resonator. According to the invention, the compensation device comprises a second microwave resonator, which is shielded towards the product area with respect to microwave radiation.

Microwave measuring arrangement for product density measurement

The application relates to a microwave sensor for measuring a dielectric property, especially the density and/or moisture content of a product, having a microwave resonator, wherein a product introduced into the resonator interacts with a resonant microwave field generated in the resonator in order to determine suitable measured quantities, and is characterized in that at least two half-waves of the electric field are formed in the resonator in one direction, the product feed being effected in at least one region of high field intensity of one of the half-waves of the electric field.

Microwave sensor for measuring a dielectric property of a product

A resonator device for testing a material quantity in the tobacco-processing industry for existence of at least one foreign substance and/or for detecting at least one of weight, density and humidity level of the material includes a resonator housing having a through opening for the material to pass through and a testing region located inside the resonator housing to which the material can be moved at least in part. The device has at least one element that increases energy density of electromagnetic waves for increasing the energy density in at least a portion of the testing region.
