The invention relates to an eccentric gear arrangement of a motor-driven, hand-guided hedge trimmer (). The eccentric gear arrangement includes two shearing blades () driven in mutually opposite directions over a displacement path (a). Each shearing blade has a connecting link () as well as an eccentric wheel () having a drive wheel () and two eccentrics (). The eccentric wheel () rotates about a rotational axis (). The two connecting links () lie directly above one another. The two eccentrics () are arranged on the same side of the drive wheel () and engage each in one of the two connecting links (). The two shearing blades () have contact pressure surfaces () in the region of their two connecting links () and are offset with respect to each other in such a manner that they are exposed at least over a portion of the displacement path (a). Two downholders () are provided which act each on one of the assigned contact pressure surfaces ().

Eccentric gear arrangement

An internal combustion engine of a manually operated implement, having an elastic connecting duct between the engine and an air filter for vibration-decoupled bridging of a vibration gap between engine and the air filter. The elastic connecting duct has a first conduit for fuel/air mixture and a second conduit for largely fuel-free air. The first and second conduits are separate tubes having respective bores that are separated from one another over their entire lengths, the inlet of the engine is operatively connected to the air filter via the first conduit, and an air duct window of the engine is operatively connected to the air filter via the second conduit.

Internal combustion engine having an elastic connecting duct

A starter device () for an internal combustion engine has a starter drum () which acts upon a spring housing () when starting. An intermediate spring () is arranged in the spring housing (). One end of the intermediate spring () is fixed to the spring housing () and the other end of the intermediate spring () can be coupled to the crankshaft () of the engine via a first catch (). The spring housing () and the starter drum () are journalled on a shaft () held at one end. The center of gravity (S) of the spring housing () lies in the region of the support of the spring housing () in order to reduce the acting bearing forces and to increase the service life of the starter device.

Starter device for an internal combustion engine

A carburetor arrangement for a two-stroke engine () is for a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw, cutoff machine or the like and has an intake channel (). The intake channel () is partitioned by a partition wall () into an air channel () and a mixture channel (). A fuel opening () for supplying fuel to the two-stroke engine () opens into the mixture channel (). The carburetor arrangement has a carburetor () having a carburetor housing () wherein an intake channel section () is formed. A throttle flap () is pivotally journalled in the carburetor housing (). A good partitioning of the air channel () from the mixture channel () results with a simple manufacture of the carburetor () when a partition wall section () is configured as a separate component upstream of the throttle flap () and is held in the intake channel ().

Carburetor arrangement

A tool head for a motor-driven, manually guided implement for receiving a rotatable cutter tool is provided. The tool head comprises a housing in which is provided a tool shaft that is rotatably mounted via bearings. Secured on the tool shaft so as to turn with it is a tool carrying mechanism for the cutter tool. This tool carrying mechanism includes an engagement plate having an engagement surface, which is oriented perpendicular to the axis of the shaft, and a centering shoulder. The engagement plate and a centering element having the centering shoulder are embodied as separate components. The engagement plate is of light weight construction and is positively connected with the tool shaft. The centering element is made of a material, the hardness of which is adapted to the cutter tool.

Tool head

A cam drive is provided for a valve-controlled mixture-lubricated internal combustion engine having a cylinder in which is formed a combustion chamber that is delimited by the cylinder wall, a piston and a cylinder head. Disposed in the cylinder head are poppet valves, the respective valve shafts of which are driven via a pivotable rocker arm from a valve control that includes a control cam on the surface of which rests a contact lever that transfers cam lift to one end of the rocker arm. To ensure good lubrication of the cam drive even at high speeds, the control cam is rotatably mounted in the vicinity of the cylinder wall, in which is formed a through-bore. The first open end of the through-bore is disposed in the cylinder bore at the level of the piston in its lower dead center position, while the second open end opens into the cam chamber in the vicinity of the control cam.

Lubrication mechanism for a cam drive

The invention relates to a portable handheld work apparatus having a movable control element ( ) for influencing the operation of the work apparatus. The work apparatus includes an actuable positioning element ( ) and a Bowden cable ( ) connecting the positioning element ( ) and the control element ( ). The Bowden cable ( ) includes a Bowden cable casing ( ) and a wire ( ) guided in the casing ( ) so as to be axially movable. The Bowden cable casing ( ) is held at its two ends ( ) in support locations ( ) with respective longitudinal stops ( ). The support locations ( ) are fixed with respect to the apparatus. Method for adjusting the idle position of a throttle pull

The invention relates to internal combustion engines and especially to two-stroke engines for portable handheld work tools such as motor-driven chain saws or the like. Material made of light metal alloys is used in two-stroke engines for portable handheld tools in order to save weight. Thus, the crankshaft bearing is made of steel while the bearing covers holding the bearing are made of a magnesium alloy. Heating causes the bearing cover to expand by an amount greater than the crankshaft bearing whereby the press fit of the crankshaft bearing can become endangered and, in an extreme case, a clearance can develop between the crankshaft bearing and the bearing cover. According to the invention, the press fit between the crankshaft bearing and the bearing cover is maintained by placing a plastic annular segment therebetween having a thermal expansion coefficient so selected that it compensates for the different thermal expansions of the bearing cover and the bearing.

Internal combustion engine

A threaded closure is provided with a receiving opening 16 in the part thereof which projects into a fuel tank. The end of a limp connecting part 13 is rotatably mounted in this recess and is however axially fixed. The threaded closure prevents damage to the sealing surface and prevents the threaded closure from becoming separated from the fuel tank so that it cannot be lost.

The invention is directed to a handheld, portable tool such as a chain saw equipped with an internal combustion engine mounted in an engine housing. The engine has a carburetor defining an air-intake channel. A heating element is provided which is electrically connected to the generator of the chain saw and mounted on the carburetor in the region of the air-intake channel. The heating element has a positive temperature coefficient and a predetermined temperature region thereby preventing the carburetor housing and the throttle flap from heating to a temperature above a predetermined value. The heating element and the way it is mounted prevents icing at the carburetor in cold weather thereby enabling the engine to run uninterruptedly and uniformly especially when the engine idles.
