The invention relates to a method for the production of at least alkylated, non-ionic cellulose ethers, whereby at least 10% of all hydroxy groups contained therein are alkylated and which may flocculate in water, within a temperature range of 45 to 95&#xb0; C. The invention is characterized in that at least one surfactant in solid, liquid, or solution form is added to the cellulose for production of the cellulose ether.
