A ball joint with a housing formed entirely by a cold forming method. The housing having an inner chamber for receiving the joint ball of a ball pin and an opening through which the ball pin extends, and a contact area on the outer surface area of the housing forms a seal with a bellows. A forming section of the housing secures the joint ball within the inner chamber such that the joint pall can both rotate and pivot. Following completion of the housing, the material displaced during the cold forming method creates the forming section of the housing. The method for producing a ball joint comprises the steps of producing a metallic housing blank with a thickening formed by compression, forming the outer contour of the housing by compression, shaping the inner contour of the housing through dishing, and using the displaced material for creating the forming section.

Ball joint and method for the production thereof

A four-point suspension control arm () is provided for the axle suspension of a rigid axle especially of a utility vehicle. The four-point control arm () has four bearing eyes (), wherein two bearing eyes () can be connected to the rigid axle and two bearing eyes ()are to be connected to the vehicle frame, each in an articulated manner. The four-point control arm () is designed as a one-piece hollow housing (), which can be twisted and is inscribed in the rectangle or trapezoid formed by the bearing eyes. The hollow housing () is formed essentially by a tube, which is arranged horizontally in respect to the vehicle and is open on both sides, with a cross section ranging from an essentially rounded rectangular to O-shaped.

Four-point suspension arm

A pivoting bearing for chassis components of motor vehicles has a tubular joint housing (), which forms a cylindrical interior space and in which a metallic internal part () and an elastomer body () are accommodated. The elastomer body () is axially pretensioned in the axial longitudinal direction via the intermediary of stop rings (), which are connected with the elastomer body and cooperate with corresponding projections (), which project into the interior space of the joint housing (). At least one of the projections is formed by a spring lock washer (), which is inserted into a radial depression () of the interior space of the joint housing () and is in contact with a recess (). The recess extends circumferentially radially at the outer edge of the stop ring () and is engaged by the spring lock washer () in the mounted state of the pivoting bearing.

Pivoting bearing

A steering triangle () is provided for the axle suspension of motor vehicles for the articulated connection of a vehicle axle with a vehicle chassis with two control arms (). The control arms are connected to each other in a joint housing () formed by the control arms () together for a rubber-metal bearing () for fixing the steering triangle () on the vehicle axle. The rubber-metal bearing () has a pivot axis () provided with a spherical surface and an elastomer body (), which extends around the pivot axis () at least in the area of the spherical surface and which is accommodated in a recess () located within the joint housing (), in which steering triangle two pressing rings () are arranged within the recess () of the joint housing () on the axial outer sides of the elastomer body (). The pressing rings can be moved toward each other by a tensioning device via the intermediary of stop faces () of the joint housing (). The stop faces are in contact with the outer sides of the pressing rings (), which outer sides face away from each other. The rubber-metal bearing can be pretensioned both in the axial direction and in the radial direction, so that stronger forces can be absorbed due to the higher rigidity achieved as a result.

Steering triangle

An axle rocker for connecting an axleto the vehicle bodyof a motor vehicle, which has a flangeprovided at the axle, a central joint arranged at the flangeand two swivel armsandconnected to the central joint, which are pivotably fastened to the vehicle body. The central joint has a central joint housingand a central joint inner part, which is mounted pivotable in same and which protrudes from the central joint housingat its two ends designed as connection pins on two mutually opposite sides. Furthermore, at least part of the central joint housingis made in one piece with the flange, and the swivel armsandare fastened with their ends facing the central joint to the two connection pins of the central joint inner part

Axle locating rod

An axle suspension for rigid axles of vehicles, especially air-suspension (e.g., with air shock absorbers/air springs) utility vehicles, is presented, in which a twistable four-point connecting rod ( ), which is connected in an articulated manner to the vehicle axle ( ), on the one hand, and to the vehicle body ( ), on the other hand, and which is connected to the vehicle axle ( ) and to the vehicle body ( ) by four said joints ( ) each located at spaced locations from one another in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The four-point connecting rod is arranged above the vehicle axle ( ). At least one axle strut ( ), which extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and connects the vehicle axle ( ) to the vehicle body ( ) in a vertically movable manner, is arranged on each side of the vehicle for guiding the axle. At least one air spring assembly unit ( ) is arranged between the vehicle axle ( ) and the vehicle body ( ) for spring suspension. The axle struts are each connected to the vehicle axle ( ) by a molecular joint ( ). The articulated mounting of the vehicle axle leads to a markedly more favorable elasticity for the entire system of the axle suspension and to an unambiguous assignment of the kinematic conditions under all driving conditions, so that an inward and outward deflection of the axle as well as the pendular behavior are not adversely affected by squeezing or jamming of the vehicle axle.

Axle suspension for rigid axles of vehicles

A joint housing ( ) has a housing recess ( ), a pivot pin ( ), mounted in the housing recess. The pivot pin has a joint ball ( ) provided with a surface protection. A pin section protrudes from a housing opening ( ), with a bearing shell ( ) arranged between the joint housing and the joint ball, and with a closing ring ( ), which closes the housing recess of the joint housing and tensions the bearing shell arranged therein in the joint housing. The closing ring follows essentially with its inner contour the outer contour of the bearing shell due to a bevel or a radius formed. The closing ring ( ) to be inserted into the joint housing is fixed in its position in the joint housing ( ) and has a sealing lip ( ) which is in contact with the joint ball ( ) under elastic pretension on the side of the housing opening ( ) through which the pin section of the pivot pin ( ) protrudes from the joint housing ( ).

Ball joint

A two-joint arrangement is presented for the articulated connection of guide elements, preferably of a motor vehicle linkage with a common articulated part. Each of the two joints has a joint housing that is connected to a guide element each and a bearing shell that is accommodated within the joint housing, in which a pivot part which is rigidly connected to the common articulated part is accommodated in a rotatable and pivotable manner. In a first embodiment variant, a pivot part ( ) of a joint ( ) has an opening ( ) running in the pivot part longitudinal axis, which the pivot part ( ) of the other joint ( ) having a screw bolt area ( ) located thereon penetrates whereby a clamping nut is arranged on the free end of the screw bolt area ( ) facing away from the pivot part ( ) of the other joint ( ). Another solution variant provides that both pivot parts ( ) of each joint ( ) have each an opening ( ) running in the pivot part longitudinal axis, which a screw bolt ( ) provided with a widened head area penetrates jointly, which, on its free end facing away from the head area ( ), has a detachable clamping nut ( ) connected thereto. The solution variants disclosed offer the advantage that the individual joints of the two-joint arrangement can be mounted in a simple manner and can be separately replaced.

Two-joint arrangement

A ball-and-socket joint is provided with a joint housing which is open on at least one side with a housing recess, with a joint pin mounted in the housing recess with its joint ball provided with a surface protection. A pin section projects from a housing opening. A bearing shell is arranged between the joint housing and the joint ball. A sealing bellows is provided between the joint housing and the joint pin. A sealing element, which is under elastic pretension in sliding contact with the joint ball, is arranged between the joint housing and the joint ball.

Ball-and-socket joint

An axle suspension for rigid axles of vehicles, especially air-cushioned utility vehicles includes a twistable fur-point connecting rod ( ) connected above the vehicle axle ( ) to the (vehicle axle ( ). The twistable four-point connect rod ( ) is connected to the vehicle chassis ( ) via two said joints ( ) each, which are arranged at spaced locations from one another in the longitudial direction of the vehicle. At least one spring assembly unit ( ) per vehicle side is located for spring suspension between the vehicle axle ( ) and the vehicle chassis ( ). An axle strut ( ) for axle guiding, extends approximately in the middle of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and connects the vehicle axle ( ) to the vehicle chassis ( ) in a vertically movable manner.

An axle suspension of rigid axles is presented, on the axle body ( ) of which a steering triangle ( ) as well as two longitudinal control arms ( ), which are located at spaced locations from the steering triangle and have different vertical positions, and additionally a stabilizing device ( ) are arranged. The steering triangle has two control arms ( and ), which form an angle with one another and are fastened to a central joint ( ), on the one hand, and are connected to the vehicle body via a guiding joint ( and ) each, on the other hand. The following geometric axes of coordinates are defined on the axle suspension: a first horizontal axis ( ), which extends in the transverse direction of the vehicle and forms the central axis of the axle body ( ) at the same time as well as a second horizontal axis ( ), which extends in the center of the vehicle and in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and intersects the axis ( ) at right angles and a vertical axis ( ) intersecting the intersection of the horizontal axes ( and ). The central joint ( ) of the steering triangle ( ) is mounted on the axle body with an offset from at least one of the axes ( through ).

Axle suspension of rigid axles

An axle suspension for rigid axles in vehicles, especially utility vehicles, with longitudinal control arms extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and connecting the vehicle axle to the vehicle body in a vertically movable manner. The longitudinal control arms are arranged for axle guiding on each side of the vehicle approximately at the same level. A four-point torsional connecting element is articulated to the vehicle axle, on the one hand, and to the vehicle body, on the other hand. The four-point torsional connecting element is arranged above the vehicle axle and is connected as a flexible cross to the vehicle axle and to the vehicle body via two body and axle joints located at spaced locations from one another in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The arms of the four-point connecting rod are designed in whole as a one-piece forged part and are girders subject to bending with an approximately rectangular cross section. One of the arms has a predetermined breaking point.

Axle suspension for rigid axles in vehicles

A metallic ball pin of a universal joint, preferably one with high load-bearing capacity, for motor vehicles, which is mounted movably in all directions in a bearing shell of a housing with a joint ball 2 designed at one end of a pin stump 1. To improve its functional properties and to reduce its manufacturing costs, a machined joint ball 2 with a through-hole 5 is nonrotatably attached to a fastening pin 4 of a pin stump 1 manufactured by cold forming in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the pin stump 1, and it is held by deforming the fastening pin 4.

Ball pin of a universal joint for motor vehicles

The present innovation pertains to a ball-and-socket joint for wheel suspensions in motor vehicles including a joint ball provided at the end of a ball pin, bearing shell made of plastic for mounting the joint ball, housing which accommodates the bearing shell and which is closed by an inner cover on one side, and from which the ball pin exits on the side opposite the cover, an outer bushing for mounting the joint in a motor vehicle via an elastomeric layer arranged adhesively between the housing and the outer bushing and a movable flange which is rigidly arranged on the outside of the housing and is provided on its radial outer surface with elastomeric coating. The outer bushing of the ball joint is provided with a circular radial flange on a side of the outer cover. The circular radial flange is fixed together with the outer cover by deformation of the material of the edge of the mounting bushing of the motor vehicle part.
