A moulding composition contains at least 40 wt % of components a) and b). Based on the sum of components a) and b), there are 60-99 wt % of component a) and 40-1 wt % of component b). Component a) is a partially aromatic copolyamide containing, as polymerized monomer units, 30-90 mol % of a combination of hexamethylenediamine and terephthalic acid and 70-10 mol % of a combination of hexamethylenediamine and a linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 8-19 C atoms. Component b) is an olefinic copolymer containing, as polymerized monomer units, i) 35-94.9 wt % of ethene-based monomer units, ii) 5-65 wt % of monomer units based on a 1-alkene having 4-8 C atoms, iii) 0-10 wt % of monomer units based on an olefin different from i) and ii), and iv) 0.1-2.5 wt % of monomer units based on an aliphatically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride, where the sum of wt % of i), ii), iii) and iv) is 100%.

Moulding compound based on a partially aromatic copolyamide

The foundation structure of an offshore structure, for example of an offshore wind energy system, is composed of steel tubes sheathed by an extruded layer made of a polyamide moulding composition. This simultaneously ensures both good protection from corrosion and good protection from mechanical effects, giving the foundation structure markedly prolonged lifetime.

Use of a composition for contact with supercritical media

A polyamide molding composition is condensed up in the melt by means of a masterbatch containing a compound having at least two carbonate units and also a polyetheramide in which at least 50% of the end groups are present as amino end groups, whereupon the melt mixture is discharged and solidified to give a molding composition or a molding. The product obtained has an increased amino end group content and consequently an improved hydrolysis resistance.

Process for producing a molding composition or a molding with an increase in the melt stiffness

In a method for the introduction of an inliner into a pipe or a pipeline, where the external diameter of the inliner is greater than the internal diameter of the pipe or of the pipeline, and where the action of an external force is used to reduce the cross section of the inliner prior to the introduction, the inliner is composed of a polyamide moulding composition which comprises at least 50% by weight of polyamide which is not PA11. The recovery behavior of said polyamides is similar to that of polyethylene usually used for this purpose.

An optical cable, which is flame-retardant, and has excellent adhesion of the protective covering to the fiber cladding and uniform thickness of the fiber cladding, contains a polymer optical conductor containing a fiber core; a single-layer or multi-layer fiber cladding; an inner external layer which adheres to the fiber cladding with a peel force of at least 50 N; and an outer external layer which adheres to the inner external layer with a peel force of not more than 30 N. The inner external layer contains a molding composition having a first polyamide selected from a) PA 11, b) PA 12, c) PA 1012, d) PA 1212, e) a copolyamide of at least two of PA 11, PA 12, PA 1012 and PA 1212, said copolyamide containing not more than 30 mol % of a comonomer, and f) mixtures thereof. The first polyamide contains at least 50 &mgr;eq/g of amino end groups. The first molding composition has a zero-shear viscosity of from 400 to 6000 Pas. The outer external layer contains a second molding composition which has the following i)-iii): i) from 20 to 95% by weight of a second polyamide selected from a) PA 11, b) PA 12, c) PA 1012, d) PA 1212, e) a copolyamide of at least two of PA 11, PA 12, PA 1012 and PA 1212, said copolyamide containing not more than 30 mol % of a comonomer, f) a polyetheramide of at least one of a)-e), and g) mixtures thereof, ii) from 5 to 45% by weight of a flame retardant, and iii) from 0 to 60% by weight of an impact modifier.
