A mount for attaching an electrode system, which focusses electrons generated upon the incidence of x-rays on an input luminescent screen onto an output luminescent screen, to an exterior housing of the intensifier is formed by annular electrodes which telescopically engage and which are held together at overlapping regions by a clamped connection. The mount has a simple structure which minimizes the possibility of the electrode system getting out of adjustment, and also significantly decreases the assembly time during manufacture of the x-ray image intensifier.

A lithotripsy work station has a table for supporting a patient which is adjustable in three spatial directions, with at least one shock wave generator disposed below the table. The shock wave generator is adjustably mounted so that movement of its focus to an isocenter is possible. For locating renal calculi, an x-ray examination apparatus is provided which transilluminates the patient at various angles. A plane defined by two central rays of the x-ray apparatus proceeds through the longitudinal axis of the patient supporting table, such that one radiator of the x-ray system emits radiation in an a.p.-direction and a second radiator of the x-ray apparatus emits radiation in the caudal-cranial direction. The x-ray radiators can be moved out of the work area, as needed. The work station can be used for shock wave treatments, for urological treatments and for x-ray examinations.

An X-ray diagnostics installation has a mechanism for positioning an examination subject within an X-ray beam and an X-ray image intensifier video chain with an image memory for displaying the radiated regions of the examination subject. A marker indicating the current position of the positioning mechanism is superimposed on the screen image of a visual display unit, thereby permitting adjustment of the position of the examination subject to a desired location without subjecting the patient to unwanted X-ray doses.
