In a medical compression apparatus and a compression part therefor, the compression part has a number of access openings therein allowing an instrument, such as a biopsy needle, to be inserted through one of the openings into a body part compressed by the apparatus. The compression part allows the access openings to be alterable in size and/or shape.

UV-hardenable reaction resin compounds are irradiated in an applicator and immediately fed to an object that is to be covered. An initial, not activated reaction resin compound is irradiated after entering an input opening in a reactor having an irradiation space, a UV-radiation source and, optionally, a reflector. Immediately thereafter the activated compound is fed to an object to be coated or to an object to be surrounded, in an open casting mold or to a closed casting mold via the exit opening, optionally via a casting canal. The method and the apparatus are particularly well suited for covering semiconductor components and for encapsulating active and passive components as well as for cementing UV-impermeable fitting parts.

Method and apparatus for processing UV-hardenable reaction resin

UV-hardenable reaction resin compounds are irradiated in an applicator and immediately fed to an object that is to be covered. An intitial, not activated reaction resin compound is irradiated after entering an input opening in a reactor having an irradiation space, a UV-radiation source and, optionally, a reflector. Immediately thereafter the activated compound is fed to an object to be coated or to an object to be surrounded, in an open casting mold or to a closed casting mold via the exit opening, optionally via a casting canal. The method and the apparatus are particularly well suited for covering semiconductor components and for encapsulating active and passive components as well as for cementing UV-impermeable fitting parts.

The apparatus is composed of a flow-through mixer which is followed by a repressing means composed of a cylinder and movable piston downstream in the direction of the conveying stream. In order to avoid cross-sectional constrictions in this apparatus due to sedimentation of reaction resin compounds and/or filler, a flow-through mixer integrated in the piston is provided, the discharge opening of this flow-through mixer discharging directly into the cylinder of the repressing means. The overall apparatus functions in a direct flow-through, i.e. the dwell time of the reactive resin compounds in the apparatus is limited to a minimum.

In order to enable a conveying from a vacuum into a vacuum when metering liquid components of reaction resin compounds, a metering pump comprising a reciprocating displacement member is employed wherein the intake valve and the discharge valve are fashioned as dish valves controllable from the outside in constrained fashioned including valve stems coaxially seated in the pump head. No noteworthy wear of the valves occurs even when metering liquid components of reaction resin compounds having abrasive fillers.

For manufacturing molded and impregnated parts from epoxy resin compositions, a reactive epoxy resin is employed which hardens more slowly at higher temperatures (120.degree. to 180.degree. C.) than at lower temperatures (80.degree. to 110.degree. C.). The reactive epoxy resin composition is applied at the higher temperature and subsequently hardened at the lower temperature. According to the method of the invention, molded parts (e.g., solution pump heads), cast-in electrical components (e.g., four-ring stray field electrodes) and impregnated parts are manufactured.

A multiple dosing device for the uniform dosing of liquids includes a plurality of dosing elements each including a dosing plunger; end connecting plates; sealing elements, interposed between the faces of adjacent dosing elements and between the faces of a dosing element and a connecting plate; and tie rods holding the dosing plates, end connecting plates and sealing elements together. The dosing plunger movement is controlled in one direction by a fluid pressure and in the opposite direction by the liquid which is under pressure. Diaphragm valves are formed on both faces of the dosing element through cooperation among the dosing element, an interposed sealing element, and a connecting plate.
