The invention relates to a scanning device for optical storage media, having an optical housing with sliding bearings, which are arranged at a distance from one another, for linear movement on a guide rod, and with optical components in order to form an optical path. It achieves the object of designing a scanning device such as this in such a way that its adjustment, associated with a setting of the optical path, is simplified and can be carried out precisely. For this purpose, each of the sliding bearings is formed from a sliding bearing bush which is held on a guide block, that is fixed to the housing, in such a way that it can be adjusted in a radial direction with respect to this guide block, and is self-aligning in a direction at right angles to this.

The invention relates to a drive system for a scanning device of an information recording or reproduction device, with a carriage coupled to a toothed rack, a gear wheel mechanism driving the toothed rack and a gear housing. It achieves the object of designing a drive system of this type alternatively and in such a way that it ensures a high speed and positioning accuracy of the carriage. For this purpose, the gear wheel mechanism is secured on a supporting element and the gear housing, the gear housing consisting of a dimensionally stable material and being pivotable with the gear wheel mechanism about a spindle which is arranged perpendicularly with respect to the toothed rack.

An optical scanning device having an improved response characteristic, for use in an apparatus for optically reading or writing information in one or more tracks on a recording medium. The object of the invention is to provide an optical scanning device which, without any electronic compensation means, very largely avoids resonance peaks and has an improved response characteristic. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a retaining plate which supports the objective lens of the scanning device via bearing elements and has at least one cutout, which separates the mounting points, in the surface which holds the bearing elements for the objective lens holder. The field of application of the invention is optical scanning devices having an improved response characteristic for use in equipment for reading or writing information on an optical recording medium, such as a CD, DVD, a CD or DVD which can be written to, or else a magneto-optical recording medium, for example.

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a scanning device, also termed a pick-up, for optical recording media, which can be produced with a low outlay and thus cost-effectively, and in comparative terms has a low tilt of the objective lens and improved guidance properties. According to the invention, during the connection of an objective lens holder and actuator base plate, a prestress is applied to wires provided as elastic support of the objective lens holder on an actuator base plate. Scanning devices produced according to the invention for optical recording media have a low tilt of the objective lens and improved guidance properties.
