Cyclic ketone peroxide formulations

Aqueous emulsions of a polymerization initiator are used for suspension (co)polymerization reactions. The aqueous emulsions contain: (a) an organic peroxide which is liquid at -5.degree. C.; (b) an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 1-4 carbon atoms and/or aliphatic glycol having 2-4 carbon atoms; (c) a surfactant and/or a protective colloid; and (d) water. The emulsions may be transported while in a liquid state at a temperature of -10.degree. C. to -25.degree. C. with minimal decrease in active oxygen content.

Peroxide emulsions containing an antifreezing compound

This disclosure relates to pourable bleaching compositions comprising a solid substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid stably suspended in an aqueous medium containing at least two polymers wherein the first polymer is selected from polysaccharides having at least 60% of the units in the polysaccharide backbone being linked together by a 1,4-.beta.-oxy linkage and the second polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, one or more cellulose derivatives and mixtures thereof. The bleaching composition also may contain an electrolyte and/or a safety booster. The preferred organic peroxy acid is 1,12-di peroxydodecanedioic acid.

Stable pourable aqueous bleaching compositions comprising solid organic

The present application discloses a process for the production of agglomerates of peroxides that are solid at room temperature and which decompose rapidly when heated to their melting point. The process comprises agitating an aqueous suspension comprising a solid first peroxide which rapidly decomposes when heated to its melting point and a solid second peroxide which does not rapidly decompose when heated to its melting point and has a melting point which is substantially lower than the temperature at which said first peroxide rapidly decomposes, at a temperature sufficient to at least partially melt said second peroxide and below the decomposition temperature of said first peroxide to produce agglomerates comprised of said first and second peroxides; cooling with continued agitation the aqueous suspension having agglomerates to a temperature at which said second peroxide turns solid; and isolating the agglomerates. Also disclosed is a process such as that described above wherein a solvent immiscible with water is employed to aid the agglomeration process. The agglomerated peroxides are particularly useful in the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers and the curing of unsaturated polyester resins.

Agglomeration of solid peroxides

This disclosure relates to aqueous peroxide emulsions and the use thereof in suspension (co)polymerization reactions. Peroxide emulsions containing an anti-freezing compound

A process for the preparation of agglomerates containing diperoxydodecanedioic acid and a water-impermeable material, e.g. lauric acid, which process comprises the successive steps of agitating an aqueous suspension of the peroxy acid in the presence of the water-impermeable material and above the melting point thereof, cooling the suspension of the agglomerated particles thus obtained to a temperature at which the water-impermeable material turns solid, and isolating the resulting agglomerates. The agglomerates obtained are suitable for use as bleaching agent.

Process for the preparation of diperoxydodecanedioic acid-containing

Aqueous emulsion of tertiary butyl hydroperoxide containing a protective colloid insuring stability after a storage period of two months. The protective colloid used is hydroxyethyl cellulose having a degree of substitution of more than 2.0, particularly 2.3-3.0. The emulsion may contain 0.1-10% by weight of the colloid and, optionally, up to 5% by weight of a surfactant.

Aqueous emulsion of tertiary butyl hydroperoxide

The present invention relates to a concentrated aqueous composition of metal aldonate and/or ammonium aldonate. Part of the aldonate is dissolved and part of it is suspended in the water. Sodium gluconate is preferred. The present composition should contain a colloidally dispersed gum as suspending agent. Gums containing carboxyl groups such as xanthan gum are particularly well suited for making the suspension. In this manner, stable compositions having a high aldonate content are obtained. The composition can be used in cleansing preparations for glass and metal surfaces, in solution for etching aluminum, in galvanizing processes, in the tanning of leather, in paper making, in treatment of textiles, in paint removers, fixing baths in photography, and in agricultural and pharmaceutical preparations.

Concentrated aqueous metal aldonate and/or ammonium aldonate composition

A process for the preparation of an organic peroxide master batch comprising about 20-60% by weight of an organic peroxide and about 40-80% by weight of a polymer capable of being cross-linked by the peroxide, is disclosed. The process comprises contacting particles of such a polymer, having a diameter from about 200 microns to about 20 millimeters, at a temperature from about 15.degree. C. to about 95.degree. C., with a liquid medium which is not a physically stable emulsion and which comprises from about 2 to about 100 percent, by weight, of a peroxide which is a liquid at said temperature and from about 0 to about 98 percent, by weight, of a suitable liquid in which the peroxide and the polymer are insoluble, for a period of time sufficient to incorporate from about 20 to about 60 percent of peroxide in the polymer particles, based on the total weight of the polymer particles containing the peroxide, said medium being present in such an amount that after the incorporation of the peroxide essentially all of the polymer particles are completely surrounded by the liquid medium.

Process for preparing peroxide master batches

Stable, pumpable, highly concentrated aqueous suspensions of organic peroxides containing (a) nonionic emulsifiers having a maximum HLB value of 12.5 and (b) nonionic emulsifiers having a minimum HLB value of 12.5 or anionic emulsifiers.
