A new hybrid grandiflora rose having the following combination of characteristics: a profusion of brightly colored, well-formed flowers; an abundance of leathery foliage which covers even the lowest branches; it is a vigorous, easy to grow and easy to care for plant having an upright habit and a highly branched bush which lends itself to usefulness for landscaping purposes.

Hybrid grandiflora rose cv. Shreveport

A new variety of rose plant of the hybrid Floribunda class, being a hardy outdoor seedling of the bush type, well adapted for mass display because its blooms are abundant, most of them being carried in clusters of as many as five or more to a stem. Flowers are from 21/2 to 31/2 inches across, and have from 32 to 40 petals and from 0 to 5 petaloids. The flower coloration is a distinctive purple-red as hereinafter described in detail.

Rose plant

A Hybrid Tea rose, of half-hardy character, being an outdoor seedling for garden decoration. The plant is of bushy, upright and vigorous growth habit, and much-branched. It is of medium height for roses of the Tea class. Flowers are generally borne singly, ranging from 13 to 15 cm. in diameter. They are, at first opening, a very light pink or a very pale apricot, becoming basically cream-colored, turning to off-white in about three days. Blooms have moderate to strong spicy fragrance. Mildew resistance is above average compared to plants grown under similar conditions.
