A method for forming a multi-ply fiber web in which least part of the sizing of the multi-ply fiber web is provided by applying sizing agent in the form of foam by a curtain type application device (C, C) in between at least two layers of the multi-ply fiber web in the forming section. The invention also relates to a forming section for a multi-ply fiber web having at least one twin-wire forming part formed between a wire () for the bottom layer and a wire () for the top layer of the multi-ply fiber web, where the layers are joined, and the treated layers combined. The forming section has a curtain type application device (C, C) for applying sizing agent in the form of foam in between two layers of the multi-ply fiber web in the forming section of a multi-ply fiber web production line.

A method for producing a fiber web (W) in which method the fiber web (W) is calendered in at least one nip (NA) of a calender (A). A device for drying and treating a fiber-based moving fiber web () in a machine intended for producing tissue paper includes a metal belt () which is arranged to support the fiber web () and to transfer the fiber web () in the machine direction and which metal belt () is arranged as a continuous rotating cycle, at least one roll () the shell of which is in contact with the metal belt () arranged to rotate around, which roll () is for supporting and/or controlling the metal belt (), and at least one counter element () arranged to create a contact area outside the metal belt () between the metal belt () and the counter element () for a process zone (), via which process zone () the fiber web () is arranged to travel when using the device.

Device for drying and treating a tissue paper web

A load measuring device for measuring a load acting on an elastically deformable member, has a distance sensor for measuring a length change in response to a deformation of the deformable member under a load. The sensor has a sensing element and a reference element arranged such that a portion of the elastically deformable member is interposed between the sensing element and the reference element. For paper manufacturing or finishing, two members between which the load is measured are cooperating rolls, at least one of which is provided with an elastic cover. One of the rolls includes the sensing element and the other roll includes the reference element. Alternatively, the two members are a roll and a cooperating belt, one having an elastic cover. Also, the sensing element and the reference element may be formed in one and the same member.

The invention relates to a method of making surface-sized paper/board. The web to be treated in the method is after surface sizing passed to a treatment process for providing a desired drying shrinkage and/or increase of drying stresses to create thereby a desired effect on the flexural strength and/or bulk of paper/board.

A processing device and method applying the same for processing a coated or uncoated fibrous web is provided. The device comprises a belt configured to extend around a guiding element, at least one counter-element being disposed outside said belt to provide a contact area with the belt, such that the belt and the counter-element establish therebetween a web processing zone for passing a web to be processed therethrough. The processing zone length is defined by the disposition of the belt's guiding element and/or by the configuration of the counter-elements. The contact pressure applied to a web in the processing zone is within the range of between about 0.01 MPa and about 200 MPa.

A method and assembly is disclosed for moistening a web of paper or paperboard, the assembly comprising a steam blow cavity open toward a moving web (). A magneto-rheological or an electrolrheological fluid, whose flow characteristics are changed in a controlled way, is used in the method. The fluid is used as a lubricant between surfaces in a device consisting of a fixed surface and a surface that is moved over it as a heating medium, as the dampening or the power transmission agent of the movement of paper and/or board equipment (), or as a hydraulic fluid of the emergency opening cylinders of a set of calender rolls () of a paper and/or board machine.

A paper web is profiled in a multiroll calender which includes at least an upper set of rolls having at least one calendering nip which profiles the paper web on one side; at least one lower set of rolls having at least one calendering nip which profiles the paper web on the other side; and a reversing nip between the upper set of rolls and the lower set of rolls. Both sides of the web are profiled in calendering nips before a nip which does not profile the web.
