In some aspects, an electronic device may receive a plurality of haptic signals associated with a plurality of haptic events, wherein the plurality of haptic events overlap in a time domain. The electronic device may generate a mixed haptics signal that combines the plurality of haptic signals in a mechanical acceleration domain, wherein the mixed haptics signal preserves timing or synchronization information associated with the plurality of haptic signals. The electronic device may generate an output stream to be provided to a haptic actuator, wherein the output stream includes a pulse code modulation (PCM) voltage signal based on the mixed haptics signal that combines the plurality of haptic signals. Haptics mixing for concurrent haptic events

Audio and haptic signal processing systems and methods are provided. There is provided a method for haptic drive signal generation. The method comprises receiving an input audio signal for driving an audio speaker. The method further comprises deriving, from the audio signal, data components indicative of behaviour of the audio speaker when being driven by the input audio signal, each data component being associated with a respective frequency range. The method further comprises determining a haptic drive component from each data component. A gain is selected to provide to each of the haptic drive components, the gain being selected for each respective frequency range. Each selected gain is applied to the respective haptic drive component to produce gain adjusted haptic drive components. A haptic drive signal is determined from the gain adjusted haptic drive components, the haptic drive signal being so as to produce a mechanical behaviour of the haptic actuator when the haptic drive signal is used to drive the haptic actuator.

Audio and haptic signal processing

A device includes one or more processors configured to, during a call, receive a sequence of audio frames from a first device. The one or more processors are configured to, in response to determining that no audio frame of the sequence has been received for a threshold duration since a last received audio frame of the sequence, initiate transmission of a frame loss indication to the first device. The one or more processors are also configured to, responsive to the frame loss indication, receive a set of audio frames of the sequence and an indication of a second playback speed from the first device. The one or more processors are configured to initiate playback, via a speaker, of the set of audio frames based on the second playback speed. The second playback speed is greater than a first playback speed of a first set of audio frames of the sequence.
