An improved enclosure apparatus that can be used in conjunction with electrical excitation apparatus or other equipment is convertible between a rack-mountable configuration and a wall-mountable configuration. The enclosure apparatus includes a housing having first and second walls. A user interface is securable to the first wall when the enclosure apparatus is in the rack-mountable configuration and is securable to the second wall when the enclosure apparatus is in the wall-mountable configuration. The enclosure apparatus may additionally include a console apparatus having a console wall that protrudes outwardly from the second wall and to which the user interface can be secured.

Enclosure apparatus for electrical excitation equipment and other applications

A pair of circuit boards, or electrically insulative panel members on which the circuit boards are mounted, have side edges which slide into aligned longitudinally extending slots in a pair of facing, spaced apart cantilevered free sections of a pair of planar legs of a bracket secured to a panel in an electric power equipment enclosure. A terminal portion of one free section diverges outward to form a camming surface against which a complimentary camming surface on a rearward edge of a tab on the associated side edge of the panel member bears to spread the free section apart until the tab passes into the slot and the terminal portion snaps over the tab and engages a latching surface on the forward edge of the tab to latch the panel member to the bracket. The panel member is released by lifting the diverging terminal portion of the one free section to clear the latching surface and sliding the panel member out of the slots.

Apparatus for mounting electronic circuits in electric power equipment enclosures

Electrical insulation and environmental protection for electrical joints between cables and flat conductors in an electric power distribution system is provided by a flexible, electrically insulative boot which has a pair of shell halves joined by a living hinge. The two shell halves have free edges which mate to form a seam when the shell is closed to form an enclosure around the joint. The flat conductor extends through the seam in the rear face of the shell adjacent the living hinge. Pairs of cable openings in the shell halves are spaced along the front face of the boot. Additional faces at each end of the front face also have pairs of cable openings to accommodate angled mounting of the cables. Slits extend from the free edges of the shell halves to the cable openings to allow installation over assembled joints. The cable openings are serrated to accommodate a range of cable sizes. The shell is secured closed by fasteners such as flexible ties which clamp flanges along the free edges of the shell halves together.
