This invention relates to oral care compositions comprising zinc phosphate, a first source of stannous (e.g., stannous fluoride); and a second source of stannous, wherein the second source of stannous comprises stannous pyrophosphate, as well as to methods of using and of making these compositions.

This application provides, among other things, novel aqueous oral care compositions useful for combining and delivering poorly compatible ingredients, for example to deliver effective levels of cationic antibacterial agents in combination with anionic polymers that protect against erosion and staining, by addition of a stabilizing amount of a polyamine, e.g., lysine, and methods for making and using the same.

Oral care compositions

Methods for visualizing oral biofilm growth and methods for identifying compounds that modulate biofilm growth are provided. Biofilm samples are stained with fluorescent dyes and viewed with a confocal laser scanning microscope. Biofilm samples are in a container with a cover slip configured for viewing the biofilm sample with the confocal laser scanning microscope and the coverslip has a thickness variation of 0.02 mm or less.

Provided herein is a cost-effective and potent preservative system for a composition comprising a salicylate salt and a benzoate salt in an amount of from 0.2 weight % to 0.5 weight % by total weight of the composition and in a molar ratio of salicylate to benzoate of 1:6 to 1:1.2, wherein the composition has a pH of 5 or less.
