A method and apparatus for managing communication in a wireless communication network is provided. The method includes generating a plurality of sets of Connection Identifiers (CIDs) from the plurality of CIDs. Each CID in each of the plurality of sets of CIDs is absent in at least one of the plurality of sets of CIDs. Each CID of the plurality of CIDs identifies a connection between a Base Station (BS) of a plurality of BSs and a Mobile Station (MS) communicating with the BS. The method further includes assigning the plurality of sets of CIDs to the plurality of Base stations (BSs) in the wireless communication network based on a predefined condition.

A method, system, and apparatus for controlling traffic flow in one or more backhaul links in a wireless communication network is provided. Each backhaul link of the one or more backhaul links includes a backhaul uplink and a backhaul downlink. The method includes analyzing one or more backhaul uplinks and one or more backhaul downlinks between a controller and one or more Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs). The method further includes communicating one or more messages between the controller and the one or more BTSs. A method and system for communicating a plurality of packets in the MBS communication network is provided. The method includes determining if one or more packets in the plurality of packets received at one or more controllers are MBS packets. The method further includes encoding one or more MBS frames using one or more packets, if each packet in one or more packets is a MBS packet. Thereafter, one or more MBS frames are transmitted from each BTS to a plurality of Mobile Stations (MS) at a predetermined Take Off Time (TOT) based on a predetermined criterion.

The method further includes scheduling MSs located in the first predetermined region based on the position of each MS relative to the BS. Method and system for spectrum reuse in the uplink in a wireless communication network

A method, system, and apparatus for controlling traffic flow in one or more backhaul links in a wireless communication network is provided. Each backhaul link of the one or more backhaul link includes a backhaul uplink and a backhaul downlink. The method includes analyzing one or more backhaul uplinks and one or more backhaul downlinks between a controller and one or more Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs). The method further includes communicating one or more messages between the controller and the one or more BTSs. The one or more messages include analysis of the one or more analysis of one of the one or more backhaul uplinks and the one or more backhaul downlinks. The method further includes controlling the traffic flow in at least one of the one or more backhaul uplinks and the one or more backhaul downlinks based on the one or more messages.

The present invention provides a method and system for positioning one or more anchor nodes or one or more non-anchor nodes in one or more communication networks. A non-anchor node may be in communication with two or more anchor nodes. The method comprises determining two or more distance measurements, corresponding to raw distances of the non-anchor node from the two or more anchor nodes, at predetermined intervals of time. An estimated distance is then calculated between the two or more anchor nodes based on the two or more distance measurements. Estimated distances between a plurality of anchor nodes in the one or more communication networks is calculated in a similar manner. A partial distance matrix is then populated using the estimated distance between the plurality of anchor nodes. A plurality of geographic coordinates of the plurality of anchor nodes is reconstructed based on the partial distance matrix. The plurality of geographic coordinates is reconstructed based on one or more of a geometric build-up algorithm, a shortest-path algorithm and a multidimensional scaling algorithm.

Method and system for hybrid positioning using partial distance information

As part of mobility management messaging in current systems, only static quality of service (QoS) profiles and their statically configured classifiers are reported. These classifiers are known a priori and are typically used for hosted traffic. Once advanced application classifiers are matched and mobility messaging is done, the deep packet inspection (DPI) learned subscriber context is lost. An embodiment of the invention is configured to associate DPI-learned dynamic classifiers with the classifier's policy information as payload over mobility management messaging. The embodiment is useful for identifying protocols and applications, for authentication purposes, solving congestion-based issues between elements in a network, guaranteeing QoS without reserving resources statically, attaching traffic packets to a particular subscriber, and creating mobile signaling to provision end-to-end communication in a network. Thereby enabling the transfer of subscriber parameters and information to be associated with the subscriber throughout subscriber movement through multiple elements of a network.

Method and apparatus to support deep packet inspection in a mobile network

A method and apparatus for predicting a handover of a Mobile Station (MS) of a plurality of MSs to one or more target Base Stations (BSs) of a plurality of BSs in a wireless communication network. The method includes predicting a need for a handover of a MS to one or more target BSs selected from the plurality of BSs based on a handover threshold. The handover threshold is associated with a quality of a signal received by the MS. The method further includes transferring datapath associated with the MS to one or more of the one or more target BSs and one or more gateways prior to the handover of the MS. The one or more gateways are associated with one or more of a serving BS associated with the MS and the one or more target BSs. The plurality of BSs includes the serving BS.

Method and apparatus for predicting handover in wireless communication network

The present invention provides method and system for managing communication in a Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) communication network. The method comprises reserving a first segment downlink time slot and/or a first segment uplink time slot for a first segment in the FDMA communication network. The first segment belongs to a plurality of segments used in the FDMA communication network. Thereafter, a communication is scheduled between a base station and one or more mobile stations based on the first segment downlink time slot and/or the first segment uplink time slot. The base station uses the first segment at a high power level for the communication. Further, the one or more mobile stations can be scheduled for an uplink transmission, based on a location of the one or more mobile stations. A mobile station can be located in one of a plurality of sectors of a cell area of a base station.

A method and apparatus for managing communication in a communication network is provided. The method includes obtaining traffic information from one or more Base Stations (BSs). The disclosure proposes an adaptive resource allocation in a network. A resource is divided into Blocks and each base station is assigned a Block for its subscribers that are in the interference region, and another Block for its subscribers that are not in the interference region. Blocks other than these two are not used by the base station. Bordering base stations does not use the same Block if they have any subscribers in the shared interference region. The disclosure proposes a resource sizing along with load balancing scheme. The resource sizing is adaptable and may change over time according to topology.

A method and apparatus for handover of a MS of a plurality of MSs to a BS of a plurality of BSs in a wireless communication network. The method includes identifying a target BS from the plurality of BSs for handover of the MS served by a serving BS. A difference between a quality of a signal received by the MS from the target BS and the quality of the signal received by the MS from the serving BS is greater than or equal to a first predefined threshold. The method further includes performing a handover for the MS from the serving BS to the target BS when the quality of the signal received by the MS from the serving BS is greater than or equal to a second predefined threshold.
